After a few weeks of decompressing since the move, I've cooled down quite a bit since the last time I came in here to rant about Smash. As EVO just passed, I find that even someone as vehemently non-competitive as I am has had a difficult time staying completely out of comp discussion. Even Nintendo themselves have been acknowledging the competitive scene in recent years, including Bill Trinen - the noted "real men use items, suck it up" employee from the Brawl days - who actually would have attended EVO if not for Iwata's passing with the funeral scheduled for the same day, and it's made me consider how much the scene has truly blown up lately, when it had historically been an incredibly niche thing compared to casual play, and which I honestly expected would stay that way even to this day. I've even seen people talking about how Nintendo should embrace more comp stuff to keep themselves in the headlines, and yet just a few years ago comp stuff wouldn't even generate headlines to begin with outside of dedicated sites, and that's gotten me thinking. Headlines, huh? Come to think of it, speaking of Smash, Project M has been out-trending the original Brawl in recent years, with even many casuals talking about it. The PS4 - the most powerful Gen8 system - has been massively out-selling the Wii U and Xbox One, when historically the weakest, cheapest system of a generation has been the best-selling (Wii, PS2, PS1... SNES and Genesis were about tied in both sales and hardware) and the strongest usually taking last or near it (PS3, Xbox, Saturn, Neo Geo...) DotA 2 has taken off with insane popularity on Steam - eclipsing the far more beginner-friendly perennial favorite of TF2 - when the original DotA was barely a blip on the radar, and even CS:GO recently went from still lower than 1.6 to second only to DotA 2 on Steam play-stats... right around the time it started getting DotA 2-level league visibility. All of these have been things I did not expect to happen, and all of them have to do with a "hardcore" gaming option reaching massive popularity, sometimes upstaging a more "casual" option. And again, I've been wondering why - when usually comp and other "hardcore" gaming stuff has always been kinda niche compared to its "casual" counterparts - that it's all blown up in popularity recently. The cynical part of me wants to say that hardcore gamers have just been running on their spite for the "Wii generation" for long enough that it eventually became a self-fulling prophecy, but I want to be more fair than that. The fact is that even though Brawl is the newer game and was more popular at its respective peak, Melee is talked about nowadays far more as most Brawl players moved onto Smash 4, and even persists to challenge the popularity of Smash 4 itself. Valve devotes less and less attention to TF2 by the year while DotA 2 has been their golden-boy since beta. The PS4 outsells the cheaper Wii U, which has had more time to build up a library... but the thing about that last one is that the past week, everyone's attention has shifted back to Nintendo for the time being with Iwata's passing; I even saw a thread on GAF about some guy going "Y'know, I've been going on Xbox and PlayStation the past few years but Iwata's death reminded me just how much I miss Nintendo; should I pick up a Wii U?" And that made something click: these things have been getting headlines because stuff has been happening to them that generates headlines. Now, that sounds like a bone-headed "no duh" notion, but DotA 2 has had an official league that constantly generates news for it, and CS:GO saw the same surge in popularity when it added the same. TF2? Not so much. Comp Smash has been getting in bigger and bigger events over the years, with a big boost from Nintendo's official jump into the scene as pretty much an apology for angering the comp crowd with the stream take-down that one time... Competitive scenes are a pretty good generator of constant news for a game, and they're fairly cheap publicity for a company that decides to support them officially. Hell, the PS4 has been riding high the past month because they announced a remake of some old JRPG that everyone's been waiting for since the PS2 for some reason... and the month leading up to Iwata's death has been pretty hard on Nintendo ever since their own press conference which was fairly... lacking in news. It really illustrates the merits of keeping yourself and your games in the news. And that has me wondering: what else can generate ongoing buzz for a game? Even old games, years after the fact?

No its not actual college its a community college I'd just be taking a class it'd get me out of having a 5th period in addition to me not having a 6th period due to being a senior.
both?
I'd like some free time. Doing both would take a huge ass chunk out of my free time. I don't know why I smell cooked beef hot dogs but I don't want it to stop.
I need to stop getting so heated in internet arguments. They never go anywhere or mean anything. Nobody comes out of it for the better.
