Mumbled implies a softer, quieter vocalisation. Grunt implies loud and aggressive, groan implies an expression of pain, etc.

I don't get why people think that this is any different than dogs just because dogs act like they have ADHD and constantly get excited when you come home after being gone for 5 minutes.
Cats just want to be taken care of, the same way dogs do. Just because you can't train a cat to do tricks doesn't mean it wants to "rule over you". Plenty of dogs are standoffish as well and don't do what you want, and plenty of cats are nice and compliant even if they won't come when you call them.

A lot of cracked.com's articles are misleading or downright lie for entertainment purposes, cite sources that are complete crap, and some of the writers are downright retarded. I still remember the Cracked.com article that said that people with Aspergers were sociopaths (something like "5 internet behaviors explained by mental conditions")
If a Cat enjoys rubbing against someone, rubs against only people the cat likes, does it for a long time, etc. then saying "it's just marking you as its property, you're its bitch" is just rhetoric cat haters like to spout to deny any advantages cats might have over dogs. It's misleading and it's analogizing the cat's motives to the motives of a human in a way that clearly doesn't apply.
