I don't think it's moldy, it looks like the frog has been mummified probably because of the airflow of the fans and the warmth inside the case. The grey "mold" is just dust.

I find youtube comments to be similar to the way poltics and media works.
The most notable comparison is that once you make it to the top, that's all anyone sees. Those with thumbs up are the ones who get thumbed up, and those who aren't get ignored, no matter how good.
Every now and then, someone with something unoriginal, repetitive, or catering only to what people want to hear will appear and get luck enough to become top, or overthrow a top comment, hence is your case.
Kind of like Justin Bieber. Repetitive, the same shit, very little original or good, but made it tot he top.
