Download Cheat Engine or any other memory editing software. 2. Cheat as much as you can until you get bored. If that's done, you'll never touch the game again.

it seems whenever apocalypse/post apocalypse is used in film or vidjagams, it's always nuclear, zombie or the occasional natural disaster. World War 1 has always been more interesting to me just because of the concept of trench warfare, lying in the middle of one giant crater for months at a time isolated from society, and most of all the experimental gas weapons and other such things that were tested on the enemy in battle. I had a thought of my own somewhat inspired by Wolfenstein. World War 1 keeps going well into the 1920's, and a bit into the 30s. Most of Europe has been torn apart by war, and the technology keeps progressing, unchecked by morals, with the main goal of producing the most destructive weapon on the battlefield. Germany decides to give a boost to their experimental weapons program to boost the casualties their enemies face and allow them to break through enemy lines faster. One section experiments in the reanimation of corpses, fusing them with machinery and basic levels of thinking to allow for rudimentary use of firearms (the guns would be directly attached to them, they would need only to look at an enemy and pull the trigger). These mindless creatures would be sent in as a vanguard to break through enemy lines, cause large amounts of casualties at close range, and cause emotional disturbance, breaking morale just before the main forces would rush in and finish them off. Another section of the experimental weapons program would focus on various poison gasses, and another, smaller section would research into recent theories on Atomic energy. The poison gasses would be used on targets that would not need to be captured, only neutralized. The researchers were rushed, and the weapon was hurried onto the frontlines without much testing. It proves effective, and their armies are looking towards victory with the death machines they had created. However, it was observed that the poison gas would take an unusually long time to disperse. In some areas, it would condense into liquid and pool, and sit for weeks on end before seeping into the ground. The enemy forces eventually manage to stall the Central Powers for quite some time through new weapons and devices that they had concocted, leading to more stalemates in battle, and increased use of poison gas on both sides. Stories begin to spread, about companies of death machines that would turn on their owners after extended times of inactivity. Of strange sounds being heard coming from No Man's Land between the trenches, where gas residue pools in craters. Large areas of land that had been taken months ago are quarantined by the governments of the Central powers, often with the excuse that they were unsanitary due to excess gas usage. No one argued it, as everyone knew the gas took a long time to disperse. Eventually, companies of soldiers start to disappear. Commanders would show up to the frontlines for inspection, only to find death machines wandering idle, and without command. The quarantine zones started to get larger. Eventually, soldiers start reporting sightings of hellish shapes moving in the fog in quarantine zones. These reports are chalked up to battle fatigue by the higher-ups and ignored, until a massive battle erupts at one of the lines nearby a quarantine zone. The Central and Allied powers are both attacked simultaneously by horrific creatures, dead bodies melted together and reanimated into murderous abominations by the residue of the poison gas. Both sides sustain heavy casualties. Fast forward one year, and the quarantine zones have slowly but steadily spread wider, overlapping each other, eventually making it so that most of Europe is uninhabitable. What remains of the Central and Allied powers have an unofficial Truce, if simply for the fact that waging warfare across the continent has become nearly impossible. Both sides have sustained such heavy casualties for so long that their populations have dropped significantly. A breakdown of faith in the government, combines with the financial ruin brought on by the war leads to mass rioting and rebelling against the government in North America, which goes nearly unchecked due to the incapability of the governments to suppress it. The U.S.A experiences hostilities between states, arguments over debt and the ethics of some states that violently suppress the rioting, leading to multiple states seceding from the Union. Canada, in reaction to the mass breakdown in authority in its neighboring countries, closes its borders to all immigrants. Troops are stationed along the borders. In Mexico, crime bosses overtake the weakened government by force, creating a nation that they claim is "truly free", a nation of complete anarchy, with no laws and no judicial system. Bascially, half the world is engulfed in a Lovecraftian nightmare fog, and the other half experiences complete societal breakdown from the effects of the war. EDIT: I also had a thought about Russia leading an assault on the remaining Central Powers at the closing years of the war, and Germany, as a last resort, creating an experimental portal device that they would use to teleport troops around the battlefield, which winds up opening a portal to a hell-dimension, causing an invasion of demonic Lovecraftian creatures.
