the soundtrack was one of the things the movie did right, but it also did a lot wrong imo. was a good film, but didn't deserve a lot of the praise it got.

A lot of movies can do a mostly silent protagonist well, but Drive really didn't. The character felt very fake and there really seemed to be no reason for many of his actions. The awkward silences also felt more like a gimmick opposed to actually being connected to the film (if you wanna see good usage of it, watch 4 Little Girls, a documentary, but still uses it to great effect). Along with that, the film did not seem to be very well written as far as characters motivations and beliefs being realistic. Most of the rest of the actors could have and have done much better performances too.
Some things the film did do well are though the cinematography and soundtrack. The environment was great visually providing a lot of great contrast and being shot from interesting angles. I could imagine being involved in the film's actual making would have been fun because of this. The soundtrack also went along great with the visuals and managed to reach into territory a lot of modern films will not enter as far as audio goes.

Silent protagonists in anything kind of feel stupid to me unless there's also a character creator. Then I can really get immersed into a game.

I stopped playing that game when monsoon came up because I didn't bother learning how to block beforehand
Just got home, got two tips from peeps tonight so that was nice and got home early, went somewhat smooth after things calmed down.
Just counted my tips and damn, in the past three/four days I've amassed $42. Glad people like me enough to tip <3 I usually tell people to not tip me so that's not counting even the people I tell that to, the only tips I take are ones that refuse to let me refuse.
