Perfectly average games that you love all the same.
Empire Earth. Average "Advance through the ages" RTS like Age of empires or Rise of nations, except you could also go a couple of epochs into the future.
The game alerted you to any combat with this sound of bells and a guy shouting WE'RE UNDER ATTACK.
And this would play every time an enemy unit began attacking one of your troops.
During a battle with multiple units it would basically be blaring it out non. Fucking. stop.
I could never win a full player match with bots
The most I got were 5 eliminated players
Dark Messiah
Dark Souls 2 (it's my personal favorite of the franchise)
Fable 2
Dragonball Tenkaichi series
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
Fallout 4

Despite a complete lack of evidence, I am convinced that they made a good game, and then some executive meddling to make it appeal to the Wii audience ruined it. Take away the infinitely annoying attempts to "help" the player, and relocate it to a more sensible place in the timeline, and you've got a pretty good late-era Zelda game. Compared to Twilight Princess, it has better combat, better pacing, and they even fixed the lame "vessel of tears" segments. It has a lot of problems common to late-era Zelda games - linear dungeons, too many cutscenes, and not much in the way of proper exploration - but it could have been a better Twilight Princess. Instead, it's a game that will be mostly remembered for having the most annoying helper sidekick in a series FULL of annoying helper sidekicks.

The ending to this game was fucking nuts it feels like i just dreamt it up

I used to shit my pants whenever I had to do one of those vessel tear segments. I remember just finishing the trial in the desert and trying to just book it back to the circle and when I went around a corner the big fat guardian was right in my face and in response a shit bricks and threw my controller across the room. Also [sp]Demise[/sp] is one of my favorite [sp]final bosses[/sp] in a game ever.

Not much to it, and the single player is pretty bad, but there was a lot of fun to have in this game in splitscreen if you played it unconventionally. Destroy the entire map, fight only throwing and catching stuff like radio towers and explosive tankers, squash every human sprite on the map, or play the really weird minigames. And I'm in love with the game's aesthetic.

The Playstation digital version sucked since it didn't support 4 players like the original.

Favorite game for the PS2, despite its obscurity.

I have so many memories playing this with my friend way back. So much fun.
Ahh EE, the game where you start as basic cavemans only to eventually have spaceships and lasers everywhere. It's really sad that EE games in the series got only worse during the years, EE1 may look awful even compared to Age of Empires 2 today, but it was a fun fun game.
I probably spent hundreds of hours developing a massive air force only to completely wipe out my enemies with nukes. Super fun game.
Assassins Creed: Rev wasn't nearly as good as 2 or BH but it had cool ideas and it ended a great plot and for that, its OK in my book

Isn't bad, isn't good. Still have some fond memories of it as a child though.

They were more tense than a lot of other parts of the game. That's good - most of the game had such little risk of failure that you didn't feel like you were in any danger.
Also [sp]Demise[/sp] is one of my favorite [sp]final bosses[/sp] in a game ever.
Really? I hated that part. Character came out of nowhere, it didn't use any of your items, and for some reason the controls were a lot more finicky during the fight, I died many times because it refused to recognize I was holding my sword straight up. Easily the worst [sp]final boss[/sp] in any of the Zelda games I've played, and that's something Zelda games don't normally do all that well compared to other games.
Lots of good examples so far. It's been interesting to see how many of the games from the original article have actually been suggested.
I'm gonna reach back a bit and pull out a probably forgotten FPS from the end of the 90s, Requiem: Avenging Angel.

Fairly bog standard FPS for the time, notable mainly for being ugly as hell even when it came out, but this one was greater than the sum of its parts. The guns were great, including one of the best shotguns in FPS history IMO, and the 'angel powers' were varyingly useful but very fun: turning enemies into salt and breaking them apart, a great possession power that let you actually jump between enemies remotely allowing for lots of mischief, and of course the ubiquitous time-slowing bullet time power that every game employed for at least a decade. The hit reactions and death animations for the enemies were also spectacular, I remember jumping out of my chair the first time I saw an enemy climb on top of a crate to get a bead on me, and then blasting him backwards off it with the shotgun. It wasn't exactly RAGE level animation, but at the time it blew my mind.
Clive Barker's Jericho

Started playing this recently. Great overall concept and the design for enemies is good, but it's execution can be painfully average at times.
Doesn't help that one of the first things they did was advertise the game in Playboy by having 2 of their characters pose semi-nude.
Bionic Commando (2009)
The Manhunt games.

I'm so glad this got a Steam release.

Are those available on PC anywhere I always kinda wanted to play them...

They both have PC versions, but the first one requires some fiddling to run on something more modern than Windows XP.
The PS2 version uses the microphone add on so you can distract enemies with your voice, but the controls are not as great as the PC, but OK.
The Witcher 1 is a solid 7/10 game. I love it so much, but understand why others wouldn't (but they really should)

Isn't the second one higly censored toO?

There's an uncut version of it, but it's PC exclusive. The Wii version is neat because of the use of the controls, but that's about it.

A few mods should improve it enough that it shouldn't be a problem.

The GORE system in this game had me coming back again and again. Time to play again lmao.

The combat is tough for people to get into, and mods can't really change that :v:
Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs Death
Man this game is such a goofy diamond.
