Because America harbours outdated measurement systems and too lazy to convert to Metric and fit in with the rest of the world.
It's actually because the US tried to switch, but decided not to because teachers didn't want to take a fucking dumb high schoolers how to use new measurements.
I don't see how hard it is to teach considering many Americans know metric anyway. Imperial: 12 Inches = 1 Foot 3 Feet = 1 Yard. 1790 Yards = 1 Mile Freezing Temp - 32F Boiling Temp - 212F Metric: 100 Centimetres = 1 Metre 1000 Metres = 1 Kilometre Freezing Temp - 0C Boiling Temp - 100C
We all know that Metric is the better system, it's just it will be largely unliked and many schools will refuse to teach it overall. It'd be inefficient for one since most people above grade 6 have been taught imperial.

And it's just piss easy to understand.
We have a day dedicated to Christopher Columbus, but there are quite a few things many people don't know about him. To start, did you know that Christopher Columbus once tore a nursing baby from it's mother and fed it to his dogs? Another one is that his crew actually committed mutiny against him because they thought he was such a terrible person. Once he also burned all of the local Native American farms right before the peak of the growing season.

Most nursery rhymes were actually how olden day peasants voiced their discomforts for the royal family. Humpty Dumpty is about the downfall of a British nobleman. [citation needed]
Fish fingers are not actually the fingers of fish. Fish have no fingers.
Fish don't have fingers because we already cut all of them off and made fish fingers out of them, duh.
Not to jump into a whole /metric-is-better-argument, or anything, but isn't metric basically used in every science class anyway? And it's just piss easy to understand.
I think it's less about being piss easy and more about the fact that science is universal and the metric system is like the universal language when it comes to science. I remember in science class doing imperial/metric conversions. So I think we use both.
Martin Septim in Oblivion was voiced by Sean Bean. ...blew my mind anyway
Blue Lights, like the ones from computers, actually suppress the production of melatonin at night, making it harder to sleep.

A couple years ago, my Biology teacher told us that you can't feel anything past a certain point in your rectum. He then told us not to stick anything in our bums.
