My room is a morning Grey color with a black accent wall and white trim, it is quite nice and tranquil, get some bamboo or tropical plants and you will have the nicest room.
My room is covered in faux-Edwardian wallpaper and plaster decorations.
Obviously I'd prefer black, because that makes the room seem darker, and thus better to sleep in. I can't abide light when i want to sleep dammit. Dark blue, green or red is also fine. Matte paint, obviously.
Pastels, or their darker cousins.
Although my room is light blue for some bizarre reason.
Paint the entire visible spectrum of light on your walls. Start at violet, work 50% of the way around the room to red, then go from red back to violet again in the opposite fashion.
Epic-trippy-room will be epic.

Or it will just look like a huge gay pride room

Or that. If you write random equations relating to the electromagnetic phenomenon and light all over the wall then it may look less like a gay pride room. Maybe even write certain wavelengths at the top of the colour at the top of the wall near the ceiling.
Then people will think you're like fucking Einstein or Hawking (I say them as they're two of the more 'popular' well known genius level people).
Some of that heat-sensitive paint that changes colour depending on temperature.
A picture of your room would be useful
