Each are bizarre, interesting, creepy and humorous.
I also agree with this. I liked the first one more because of the levels of insanity it had. The second had a much better plot but the weirdness felt kind of broken in. Also the movie is amazing for the first two-thirds but the final act isn't so great.
I've only read books from a handful of authors, but I'm really enjoying the pacing and descriptions of this novel. It's tense as hell and it makes you feel like the antagonist (Chigurh) could show up at any moment. I don't know how you guys feel about Stephen King, but his novella collection "Different Seasons" is a must if you've ever watched "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Stand By Me":

I don't read that many books but This man. THIS is a must-read book. Also can graphic novels count? Because I think this is probably one of the most important novels I have ever read in my life, despite it being a different medium of novel. Raymond E. Feist's Magician It's the only book I've felt an emotional connection to the characters with. The scope and depth of the world and lore is massive, the series spanning well over hundreds of years.
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. A story about a French perfumer who kills virgin girls and traps their scent to make perfume out of it.

The Discworld novels, if you like your fantasy with a lampshade larger than the universe hanging over it.
Cather in the Rye, Crime and Punishment, 141 of Pharengheit, Day of Triffids, 3 man in a boat saying nothing of the dog

Not sure if it's been posted, but read the Wheel of Time series, they are great.

War and Peace. It's a long read but it's certainly worth it. The characters are so real it's the first time I've felt an attachment to characters in a novel. I highly recommend it.
I really enjoyed Devil in a Blue Dress, and it had a great movie adaptation (as far as movie adaptations go)
Any of the novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that features either Sherlock Holmes or Dr. John Watson.

I'd also mention the foundation series by asimov as worth reading.
[t]http://s21.theawl.com/awl/up/2011/04/atlas2.jpg[/t] Whether you think you would agree with her ideas or not, Atlas Shrugged is worth reading for the sheer fact that Ayn Rand and the book itself are so hugely criticised. [editline]edit[/editline] Also I agree that Metro 2033 is a great book - although I would have preferred two books or more to bring more depth into the world
