hey Elecbullet, if it's written in a dick way then why are people agreeing with him?
People agreeing with dicktext doesn't make it any less dick. Those guys were probably already on his side.
Well he posted it as a status so it's not really directed at anyone specifically or anything so I don't see why it would offend anyone or whatever, he's not being a dick to that girl
You may be taking this out of context, the country is made up of a sizeable working/middle class who are taxed enough by an unpopular government, why should the taxpayer pay for a costly war, banks, public services amongst other things? The rich are getting off pretty much scot-free.
what, I know about those issues jesus
Well these issues provide the basis for this argument. There's nothing dickish about it.
I really don't get where all of the hostility is coming from but fair enough! I really didn't have the intention of offending anyone in my rant (not after I decided against posting it on the girls status), and my logic isn't with any apparent error and it was only as heated as it was because it's something I have a justifiably fiery opinion of (what could be more abhorrent than the government stealing my money to wage unjust wars?). If you have anything to actually say that opposes my view I'm glad to take your criticisms on board, but I'm definitely not going to back down just because you don't think facebook is a place to discuss something so polemic and volatile (if you think that's the case, egypt wants a word with you).
paying taxes also makes people healthier and saves lives [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] improves your living standards
paying taxes also makes people healthier and saves lives [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] improves your living standards
then why does the state have to coerce me into doing it? if it's so undeniably valuable then there must be some veiled ulterior motive behind stealing from us. if I believe something improves my standard of living I'll invest in it. why are the fruits of my labour appropriated and spend 'for my own good' "by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so", to quote Proudhon?
i dont see whats so bad about you paying to help others, even if a small amount of the money you pay goes to military
I'd continue posting about this but I'll end up berating the Conservatives quite a lot.

if you dont pay taxes, whos going to help you if you get sick? [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] or have roads with bumps in it [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] no road signs [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] no water [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] no electricity
yeah so I looked over my rant and I can't see anything remotely untrue. maybe you're hung up over the fact I said that soldiers are "literally guns for hire or hitmen" or maybe "I don't value a soldier's services". but if you argue soldiers aren't guns for hire then I'm confused as to what criteria you have to meet to become a gun for hire. they all carry guns with the intent of shooting people and they're paid to do so. what more can there be? as for valuing a soldier's services, if that makes me a dick I'd be grateful to have an explanation. if it's the bit where I implied people opposed to my view are morally wrong, that stems from the fact that to say people must pay taxes or be punished is to say you support the use of force on me for not supporting a cause (in the form of giving money).
live in a shed and supply yourself
i dont see whats so bad about you paying to help others, even if a small amount of the money you pay goes to military
because I don't want to. I do want to help genuine charity cases. I will gladly give my money to the mentally ill who cannot sustain their own living. I'd gladly give my money in aid of those who genuinely can't help themselves. However I have no right to coerce other people to do so, too.
lol, people who are actually anarchists
attack my premises or you might as well not bother. I don't care for ad hom arguments and that sort of bullshit and they do nothing to change anyone's opinion.
i do understand your way of thinking, but for me, i cant say i agree might be because us living in different countries, because here not much money from taxes is spent on warfare
if you dont pay taxes, whos going to help you if you get sick?
i do understand your way of thinking, but for me, i cant say i agree might be because us living in different countries, because here not much money from taxes is spent on warfare
well I think the whole institution of involuntary taxation violates the moral principle of non-aggression so in essence it doesn't really matter what the taxes are spent on. it's just doubly wrong to forcefully appropriate my money for the sake of violating the non-aggression principle on even more people. [editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
you can speak the truest words in the world and still be a condescending cock about it
then you're just being overly sensitive and silly then.

I don't value a soldier's services, but if I don't pay them I get brutalised and condemned as a criminal.
"I don't really care for soldiers or what they are doing and if I could, I would avoid paying them." I saw that line at a glance, it was all I needed to see.
"I don't really care for soldiers or what they are doing and if I could, I would avoid paying them." I saw that line at a glance, it was all I needed to see.
That's kind of a bad interpretation.
the truth is, if given the choice I definitely wouldn't fund the waging of wars. I have a certain kind of respect for soldiers but I definitely wouldn't support them with the fruits of my labour because it's simply not a worthy cause. but my personal hypothetical refusal to pay for the waging of wars isn't what my argument is really about. what I'm fundamentally opposed to is the theft of my labour for any cause, whether it's for my own good or not. if I deem something as being for my own good, I'll gladly work towards it, thanks. I'm also a very compassionate guy and I'd gladly donate my labour to other people's ends (which I and millions of others already do on a voluntary basis even in the current system).
Support the people who got stuck in it, but don't support the causes.
