It'd be so BADASS to run a game across three monitors. The problem with two monitors in that situation is that if it's a first-person shooter and your monitors are the same size, the crosshairs will be directly in between two monitors.
I currently have a two-monitor setup (1080p + 1280x1024) and I use it massively, if not for gaming then for everything else. I could definitely use a three monitor setup. My current graphics card only supports a maximum of two, however, which is one of the many reasons I shall build anew.
there are compensation settings to eliminate any issues with crosshairs / monitor bezels.

i wouldn't use a multi-monitor setup for gaming, i prefer having my game on 1 decent size monitor. i would use a multi-monitor setup for more productive purposes, like graphic design (which is why i want IPS panels) / 3d modeling.

but to each their own
Oh, well three still seems much better, in that case the crosshair would be in the direct center of the screen.
My dad jokingly suggested a nine-monitor setup. I wonder how a game like Half-Life[sup]2[/sup] would manage a 5760x3240 resolution. Where would the on-screen gun appear?

What is this IPS anyway
[editline]5th January 2012[/editline]
Wikid it never mind
I'd use two monitors if I had a second one, but I don't care enough to spend a bunch of money on it
if anything I'd just use it to have games open on one monitor and chats/internet on the other
Edit:
which is only slightly more convenient than alt tabbing anyway

in-plane switching. it basically resolves some color reproduction / viewing angle issues that are present with most TN (twisted-nematic) monitors.
-automerge-
dell has some very nice IPS monitors, and most apple devices use IPS panel monitors. they're definitely a higher quality alternative to TN monitors, but you pay a higher premium for it.

Any time I discuss multiple monitors with someone who has never tried multiple monitors they always seem reluctant. If not because of technical limitations, then because of a feeling that it's somehow detrimental. It's not. It's FUCKING AMAZING.
I don't know how Vista does it but Windows 7 and many Linux distributions make multiple monitors extremely useful: click and drag the title bar to the top of one screen and it automatically maximises to THAT screen. Just that screen. Incredibly useful, I've found. Much better than alt-tabbing.
Really, if your computer is technically capable of it, I would recommend you try it at least once.
well multiple monitors are a little more practical these days. i used to run two dell trinitrons, which basically eliminated any spare desk space that i had. they were pretty large, and rougly 55lbs each.

yeah, like I said I'd be willing to try it, but I don't wanna shell out the money for another monitor right now
my desktop (which does run windows 7) would be fine with two though
When the FUCK is my package going to get here?!
I think I'm gonna buy a new monitor with money I get from my birthday.
What should I get?
If it has a VGA/D-sub out, you could always plug it into a standard monitor. Then you could transfer files if needed, or possibly locate a software issue that might be causing troubles.
Wait, is it a Mac?
It's not a Mac, for some reason Facepunch detects my phone's browser as Safari. My guess is either a bad connection from the LCD to the motherboard or a bad "lcd inverter switch", but I have no idea how to fix either. The screen just randomly dies.
It seems to be working now, but I have no idea how long that will last.
oh man i'm so happy right now my cat finally came home, she was so hungry.
Stephen Hawking is a fucking badass. Dude is turning 70 and has had Lou Gehrigs disease since he was 21.

They only gave him a few years to live when he was first diagnosed.
Dude must be the Emprah. Forever entombed in his mechanical throne, clearly holding back his disease with the force of his will.

yes
Am I the only person on this planet that didn't like The Darkness? Playing that was like passing an immense, semi-fluid shit that burns your anus as it slowly slips out. It was like having a rusty rod pushed into, then pulled out of, my rectum. And the rod was on fire.
