when i was in egypt, i visited a market where there was a red line painted on the ground that the merchants weren't allowed to pass so they couldn't follow and harass tourists.

how's that? i'm firm enough with saying no and politely ignoring them, i've never run into trouble with any scammers, and i think i've been to a fair few places where they thrive. judging my entire personality/attitude towards being a tourist just based on what i'm wearing is a bit silly. i was wearing what i was because it was comfortable, which is most important to me when i'm somewhere hot.

i really don't see how i'm supposed to not look like a tourist though? i'll be damned if i'm wearing something that doesn't keep me cool and comfortable when i'm out walking in 35°C+. but hey, at least i don't have a bum bag and sports rucksack right up on my shoulders...
