Not really, when you fire a weapon sideways gravity is working against the action, but gravity is so weak compared to the force of the weapon firing. You might get a stovepipe.
Well It's not like the targeting computer comes straight down or Luke would have had a harder time pushing it out of his way.

Glocks tend to jam if you fire them limp-wristed, not sure about sideways.
But there are a number of handguns that do stovepipe if held sideways. I heard some 1911 variants fall into this category.
In other words, depends on the gun. But if Glocks jam by virtue of the shooter having a limp grip they probably don't work all that well sideways either.

I have noticed that he pretty much just wants to mess with people's heads. I have asked him to stop saying that this account is his alt but he refuses to listen.
