I'm playing it for my first time now. It's kinda like KOTOR combat I guess. Not a lot of control, just timing combos and choosing fighting styles. I don't mind that much though cause so far it is really fun.

But why is the first one so over shadowed? From what I hear the first one has a better story because its more personal.
I can't draw parallels between them because I haven't played the first, but I liked the second - it's probably up there amongst my favourites.

The combat goes from shitty KOTOR combat to something similar to Dark Souls. It's clunkier and a bit broken, but it is a million times better than the first. It also looks a hell of a lot nicer.

I'd say the story is about the same really. The first is more personal, yeah, but the second isn't some copy-paste epic. The biggest thing is the characters in the second are god-tier with Roche and Letho being some of my favourite characters ever. Just play it.
