My mum and dad are not cool at all. My dad was somewhat cool in his 20's but now he is fat and bald. I'd much rather have my aunt and uncle as my parents as they ARE cool.
I don't like my mom or her boyfriend, but they're not embarassing.

I think it's stupid to be embarassed about your family anyway, it's not like you have a huge influence on their character.
My dad is a real sore ass when it comes to parties or such festivals, but we go to the cinema and go biking and shit.
Mum: JAROD TURN OFF YOUR XBOX (playing l4d2 on computer right in front of her damn face) AND DO THE DISHES. I DONT CARE I BROKE THE DISHWASHER LAST NIGHT. DO IT.

Dad: Wait, so you're saying that because our computer wasn't fast enough, that new grand theft auto game (gta iv) I got you doesn't work? And that means I wasted 35 bucks, while we are low on cash right now?

Dad: ... Well thats a real bummer, come on, lets go up to the 7-11 and get some slushies.

my parents are tech savvy, and like the same music as me, plus they are *sometimes* lavish with the dough
My mom is a hippie, and thus not cool, but I like her anyway.
My dad is cooler though. He's been a programmer for 30 years, a professional skydiver, a pilot, currently building an airplane and two old russian motorcycles in the garage while at the same time being cool about what I do and shit like that.
My mum and dad are pretty cool.
Neither of them do anything exceptional, but they're pretty lax on most things, and the only things they really stop me from doing aren't many.
My dad, is cool. He wears leather jackets, watches Battlestar Galactica, listens to Headhunterz, plays driving games (Grid is one of his favorites).
My mom is also cool. She listens to System of a Down, Dope and Slipknot. She makes great food and she's great talking to.
My dad is playing Star Trek online and my mom is playing Wii.
