Runescape 2 and Habbo hotel around 2003, also MyCoke if anyone remembers
Fuck I miss mycoke. Habbo was a pile of shit to me after seeing all the music and games and customization that mycoke had. Good memories with my friends and sister on that site.
Unfortunately, Facepunch is the only early thing I've done. I joined the Picture Wars website when it was first created after everyone deserted the Pixel Wars subforum on Facepunch, so I guess I could include it even though I don't go on the site at all. It has about two thousand users, which is pretty respectable. I don't think anyone but the veterans know who I am, though.
Neopets like crazy bruh
I don't know how early I was on this one, but when I joined, they didn't even have any flash games. Nothing in the site ran in flash. Then when they finally introduced flash games, most of them ran like shit on my computer.
i was there, op, when sh*t happpene.d
I got a walkman for my birthday when I was like 6. Never gonna forget, that's gonna be hilarious in a decade or so when we inject songs into our minds.
I played runescape back in the day. Like 2003-2004
I remember when steam was released, where many weekends were spent playing Counter Strike on ugly big ass CRT screens. Fuck, i even remember playing counter strike back when it was just a mod, damn i feel old.
Same thing. Except I was with Day of Defeat when it was still in Beta. a lot of those old maps never made it into the retail release (and with good reason) but they were still a blast to play. I miss that dagger, the shovel just isn't the same.
I was the first in my school to get a platinum Gameboy Advanced when that color option first came available. I was hot shit for about a week until two others got it.
I have a 3do.
RuneScape Classic and more recently the Minecraft Alpha. Both of which I completely disassociate myself from now. cabbage
I was born the same year as Half-Life and was around five months old when it came out. [editline]1st March 2015[/editline]
RuneScape Classic and more recently the Minecraft Alpha. Both of which I completely disassociate myself from now. cabbage
I remember Minecraft used to be my jam. Then the game started going downhill along with the fanbase and now it's garbage.
I played on a CD-i when I was little. Those days were never golden though.
I read John Green's books, The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments etc when they came out. With the exception of tfios, the movies were pretty shit (although THG as a book was pretty good, the sequels were progressively worse). Also I'm gonna put down that I read A Monster Calls on release before that becomes a thing (and Patrick Ness follows me on twitter :D)
I was a Day of Defeat mod groupie since the early 2000s and I spent a shitload of time on the official Random Nonsense and The Mess Hall forums (the DoD equivalent of Facepunch basicly). When Day of Defeat became an official Valve title and the DoD mod forums were merged with the Steam forums, I moved with the old regulars to our own private forums were I still post to this day. I have stuck with the same group of anonymous strangers from all over the world for almost 14 years now, and we send eachother secret santa presents. I have watched them getting married, having kids, getting careers and starting busineses. I have also been with them when they made life changing decisions and even when a few of them died. Day of Defeat for life yo.
Telltale. Sam and Max, SBCG4AP, Wallace and Gromit, Monkey Island, my jams. I love the Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us but it'd be nice to see another game like those ones again.
G4 back when it had Cinematech, Blister, Icon, Cheat, etc. i.e. when it was about video games and not American Ninja Warriors and Cheaters.
I had all 3 original Pokemon games, I played minecraft a shit load before monsters were even added, and I was a huge fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy comics before the movie was even a rumor (hence the title).
first in my group of friends to own melee (the only one actually) and then brawl, i p much introduced them to smash.
I played SS13 back in the day where people didn't care as much about being killed, poo stained every wall and floor, Melons was young, and some of the worst parts of the community that are now quite large and spread out, were laughed at and insulted. Of course, the community was still shit and the game was even laggier than it is now, but I can't help but feel as if a great golden age has ended.
Played Kingdom Hearts when it came out and i own every game since release ever since. Also was around when Gaki no Tsukai was getting big and started streaming it, then people started to join the wagen.
DayZ mod. I was the first player to survive 24 consecutive hours after the stats tracking was implemented
I got a Super Nintendo when it was released.
I remember when gmod was about building :v:
I played garry's mod v4 when it was new (I was 10 at the time)
I was around for the early 00's punk rock (But not really) scene. You had your Tony Hawk Pro Skaters, the Offspring, Alien Ant Farm, Fred Durst and Smash Mouth, and Linkin Park. Also ridiculous peroxide blonde bleached hair was considered cool, Guy Fieri and that guy from ICP still has it. It was a really retarded time to be young, but looking back on it now it was kinda fun.
I was in the first ever Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars line battle, back when it was a pre-beta mod called Mount and Musket and it had only just been updated such that you could crouch, not reload while moving and only thrust in one direction. I was in one of the 12 ish official regiments they made for the Waterloo line battle, and it was halfway between a disaster and one of the most fun things I've ever done. There were loads of crashes and connection issues for some people, but it worked out and after the event I got handed the regiment along with all the people who weren't in the M&B clan that formed the base of it Then it fell apart lol because I have neither the experience or the patience to manage a glorified clan
I joined roblox in 2006 myself
Same. Pretty much when I became a PC gamer.
I became a pc gamer because of this I was a regular internet user back then, but when 8 year old me found this, it was something my constructive mind fell in love with. So I bought roller coaster tycoon 3. then, in the lore of simulation games, I bought spore and loved it (I was young, I knew no better) eventually, I found garrysmod, the holy grail (for me) of physics simulation and here I am Its so strange how my entire life changed from possibly having grown up to be yet another normal "in reality" person rather than who I am now because of this one stupid youtube video some guy made in 5 minutes.
Minecraft when there only was the creative version roblox in 07 runescape in 05 and club penguin, habbo and neopets before that, I think pretty much all the standard shit
