Depends on where you go, i've been to some really nice areas and some downright shitty areas. Do some research on what areas have lowest crime rate/poverty, ect.
you dont want to be here trust me
Chicago is one of the most brilliant cultural centers of America, for anybody seeking art, theater, and general creativity. The architecture, especially, is absolutely beautiful; It's a strange mashing of traditional and contemporary architectural styles that results in a very unique, very urban feel. My dad's moving out there in a few months.
Maybe, but they don't call it "The Windy city" for nothing.
Don't go there in the Winter, trust me.
I live in New York in the Bronx, and I can tell you that it's extremely ghetto here. You know what it looks like to walk around grove street in GTA San Andreas? That's what it basically looks like right here.
what the fuck are you doing in the bronx
new england is the best part of america
come here
die, I fucking hated new england
Whatever you do, do not go to an IB school in Quebec. It's terrible and they pretty much take all the English out of you so you have to stay in Quebec. Also, you barely have any options to choose from, so, everyone basically gonna do the same job when were older.
Ok this I will let slip by me because it is in fact true it can get a lil bit to Redneck when you get far enough.
But that's how I like it and ain't no city boy gonna change that (No offence to the city boys) but for real you southern haters need to come down here and have some fun.
Now the farthest north I went was Santa Clause Indiana and i'm not going any higher than that! In case your wondering i'm in Kentucky which is a nice state to live in as long (Not trying to be offensive just saying) your not Gay, Black, Annoying, Full out city boy, Hater, or anything of the sort.
I'm thinking of moving out of this state myself so i'm not suggesting you come here, a lot of people who came here left and went back from whence they came because of the level of horribleness this state is.
I wish you best of luck in finding a good place to stay but just remember this "Home is were you make it." Now have a nice day or morning I don't have the least bit of an idea what time it is were your at.
I'm from and in Georgia so don't do this "let it slip by me" stuff.
Ohio isn't too bad. Decent weather, nice midwestern folk, a large lake... the list goes on and on.
Its a good cross section of all different types of American culture.
Holy shit there's someone else on FP who lives in Ohio
I thought I was one of a rare breed
To OP
Just don't go around the southwestern corner of Ohio if you ever visit
So many smelly Mexicans it's not funny
(I'm not saying all Mexicans are unclean but these people sure are, and they have 50,000 kids and all their relatives are shoved into several apartments in the same building, I'm not kidding, they're living a stereotype...)
Edit: For the record I had some Mexican friends and they were cool
Go to Maine, the people are pretty nice around Bangor.
The food is amazing, Boston Clam Chowder and Lobster.
watch out for those loan sharks man.
oh and Kentucky's a nice place.
Everyone thinks the South is like bad there's nothing that bad here except droughts, snakes and mosquitoes, or a gun if you trespass, I'm in Texas, now the schools here are slightly below average in education, for better education go to California or some state North. And, naw we ain't living in no queer bag filled farms down 'ere in the south.
Funny how in my school, there's only one guy of a African American ethnicity, I feel bad for him though, not being racist or anything but there's tons of Mexicans and Whites here.

This isn't a Canada thread, brah.

nice job being an incredible racist
making america proud i guess
I'm not being racist, this is the honest truth... I wouldn't make this shit up.
I know some really nice Mexicans but most of the ones who live around here have messy houses, smell bad, and have way too many people living in the same living space at once.
Nor do they speak a speck of English. One time my mom was greeting a new family who had moved into the neighborhood and they yelled at her in Spanish and threw trash at her to make her go away.
How am I being racist if I'm telling the truth?
Does that make me racist if I saw a black person eating fried chicken?
oh my fucking god
"oh my fucking god" isn't an answer.
I'm asking you a question. How is that racist? :colbert:
I have nothing against Mexicans. A few bad Mexicans doesn't make the entire population bad, I know this. As I stated before I don't believe all Mexicans are like this.
And stereotypes aren't fake, they're very real as much as I hate to admit it.
For once I've found an argument where I don't want to take sides.
I'm not sure about the rest of the U.S but if you ever come to Texas, then go to Austin. Austin is the only reason I live in Texas tbh :\
The scenery can be very beautiful, the food is amazing (Only because we stole it from every other culture on the entire fucking planet), but never, never go south of the Mason-Dixon line. I'd recommend going to Vermont. Almost all the food there is organic, the only con is that there are a lot of people who smoke marijuana because it's easy to obtain there. The weather is very nice, and there are a lot of cool mountains around.
And this is bad how?
Oh yeah OP, New York is a nice enough place. The bad neighborhoods are very easy to avoid. NYC is as safe as any other city. I would recommend visiting Manhattan for a few days, really.

But I live in San Antonio, and it's the reason I live in Texas :/
Holy shit raining hard here right now
Does anyone live in Redmond/Washington (the state)?
Is it a nice place to live?
Just don't go to south
What wrong with the south other than the fact everyone stereotypes it? It's not THAT bad here.
Anyone planning on moving to the USA, don't move to Connecticut. It sucks all around.
Don't move to Wisconsin either, the weather is insanely random here.
Texas is fucking bi-polar. 20 degrees one day, BOOM 110 the next. Then back to freezing. (I personally prefer the freezing days :\)
See, we American's don't like the other states too much.
You should get settled in one, and never leave that one.
best fucking country in the world
Don't do it. They're all a bunch of douchebags.
[editline]25th November 2011[/editline]
Then again Orange County and the Hollywood area has a ton of douchebags.
Oh well, I don't wanna be even close to those jersey shore assholes.
compared to the rest of the country we're the friendliest and most personable lmao
[editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
i've been to a lot of states and it just seems that way to me
I live in Texas, I like Texas.
Texas is fucking bi-polar. 20 degrees one day, BOOM 110 the next. Then back to freezing. (I personally prefer the freezing days :\)
Also this, but I still like Texas.
I'm from New york and it can be freezing one day and hot the next day, its very green with alot of pine trees. There are certain parts full of red necks, hipsters and all around douchebags. the city is crazy to get around the traffic is terrible especillay if you take lincoln tnnel. I went to the macy's day parade thursday and people were shoulder to shoulder, i don't know about the rest of america cause i have never lesft the East coast.
san diego is a shithole just like every other city except cleveland
Minnesota is a nice place. Most people consider the northern part Canada jr.
Cold ass winters though and wannabe redneck country folk. There's also a couple indian reservations that are pretty much the ghetto. Crime rate like no other.
