I can't remember who was the first one on Facepunch to have one of these, but it was some green dragon with a rainbow belly. Then everyone started making them. Even I had one for a little while.

yeah i think it was a some fad that spawned from furaffinity.

This started on Furaffinity, some guy was making them for free. Some were Valve themed so FP stole them as well as furries getting furry ones, then people started making their own, including myself. (Until I got 'hoffed today, and changed it back 30 seconds ago)
FA started it, it grew there, FP turned it into a huge avatar fad.
