Lot of people are afraid of the deep dark places of the world. Understandable, since something we feel that's there but you can't see it is what really scares us. Nothing is there, which makes it a lot worse. Just like in "The Voice" from Scary Stories to tell in the dark. I really need to bring back the nightmare thread again. If you know me too well here, you'd know that I terribly afraid of Stephen Gammell's artwork. Had to pick the two tamest ones just to get it over with.
I hate these things so much. I know they serve a good purpose and all but constant fire drills at school as a kid have caused me to never want me to ever be near one at any time. Just seeing one on a wall startles me at this point.
Have the same thing with when these fuckers go off: I remember my toddler ears being so sensitive, it was utter fucking ear molestation. I was ear raped by the state using mic spam masts.

See this motherfucker right here? Looks like a kind of bumblebee right? Well, you're wrong. And you've never been so wrong before in your whole life. Bumblebees are nice and beneficial creatures. Well botflies aren't. They're fucking horrifying. They pin down a mosquito, lay their eggs on it, and when the mosquito bites something, the eggs get planted into the skin of the bitten animal. The eggs hatch and the larvae then grow inside that animal. The worst part about this shit is that there's a certain species that actually does target humans. Apparently you can hear the larvae chewing if they're close enough to your ear, and you can feel them moving around. You can remove the larvae by putting Vaseline over the bite holes, which will asphyxiate them and cause them to dig their way out, but the thought of that just makes me cringe so hard that my everything hurts. Holy. Fuck. They bring my fear of parasites to a whole new level. Am I glad these things are really only in warmer places like South America.
