Actually, since the slide's stuck to the gun, I think the pistol would go back and hit the magazine.

No, the slide of a Desert Eagle is in the back and goes underneath the part in front that is fixed to the barrel. Because if it had a whole slide like most pistols, the recoil would actually be worse, as if it weren't bad enough already.
