Honestly, it depends on the location. A lot of the Taco Bell locations are usually reported to have terrible food or highly unclean conditions, but others can actually have some pretty decent food and are relatively clean. The one in my area is, fortunately, the latter.
Though at the same time, if you know how to cook and can make the same things that they offer in their restaurants at home, it's significantly cheaper and usually tastes a lot better. It also usually yields more food, so you could take any leftovers and and make something else with them later (or make the same thing, whichever you prefer really).

it's a case-by-case thing i think. some locations are terrible, others are amazing, it all depends on who's working. i can go to the same taco bell 3 times in a week, and it'll taste different every time. sometimes there's someone working hard and making the food good, other times there's kids in the back fucking around and not giving much of a shit. i think it's like that for all fast food places.

It really is. How clean the restaurant is and how good the food tastes really all depends on who's working at any given time for any of the locations. If you've got a good crew, you can expect everything to be top notch (or at least as top notch as fast food goes); conversely, having a shitty crew usually results in the restaurant not being very clean and the food tasting terrible.
