Either the Saxophone you're talking about is "special" in some way that the collectionists would find extremely valueable or it's just that the better and more "precise" the instrument is, it costs insanely more.

larger saxophone types are a lot more intricate and as a result cost more
contrabass for example can reach $10k+ easily
this website isnt exactly specializing in collectionist equipment, it's a butt basic instrument shop.
so that's why I wonder if anyone actually buys the high priced one when there are so many cheaper alternatives that do the job just as well or even better.

The best of the best instruments cost a shit ton but it's definitely diminishing returns past a certain point
instrument cost comes from: the brand, age of the instrument, whether or not the instrument was handmade, the materials used (vintage instruments use different materials than modern instruments), and arguably the difference in material can affect the sound of the instrument. a lot of it is more sentiment than anything, but if you spend your life as a professional musician, you'll probably start to grow attached to your instrument, which might make the investment worth it to some.

i would because i've played a couple gear4music guitars and while they're great for getting into playing guitar, they feel fragile as fuck to me and the pickups don't sound good
