Where I am you need 50 hours logged with a parent or marital partner that has aged 25 and has their own license, then go through a live driving test
My brother had this same problem and actually had to rely on his girlfriend for rides well into his 20s. Our parents are either too lazy to drive with us, or too clingy to give us an opportunity to leave.
It's absolute maddening. It is very difficult to manage friendships when you need them to come to you to do anything, and being at a Walmart alone feels like a luxury experience
Plus when anyone finds out all you have is learners (I only finally got this a year or two ago, after raising hell after also taking years to get access to my birth certificate)
They think you're retarded, because they take their opportunity for granted (which it should be) and cannot comprehend such crippling.
This also makes it difficult to not only keep but acquire jobs, and I can't afford ubers when $7 is a ride down the street.
I would give anything to just get out of here, to have my independence. Go the Distance, Part of their World, Wreck it Ralph's plot, LSoH's Skid row all make me cry like a bitch.
I'm hoping one of these government programs that keep popping up helps. I went for one but it caused more problems because the teacher was gaming the system and not doing his job and was also verbally abusive. I'm tied up in a growing class action lawsuit against the college now because I recorded him saying sexist shit to a female classmate and about his female coworkers, violating privacy laws giving out people's grades and disabilities etc and more and they tried to silence students and get rid of the employees that made complaints
Sure that's kind of on me for caring and getting involved but what do I have to lose anyway? Might as well fight for good if nothing's changing.
Sorry for my rambling I need to take a load off I guess. I know you only asked why I can't drive and I went overboard
