In my high school senior year, that's how I found out three of my fellow seniors died - in the newspaper, front page, below the fold. I still remember the article - "3 Indian students dead in drunk-driving accident".
I knew them because we were on the same football team, but they were a bunch of richkid fuckheads. Raided daddy's liquor cabinet one night, got drunk, stole the keys to daddy's Land Cruiser and went for a joy ride, hit the kerb and ricocheted off a concrete barrier at something like 50 kmph, no seatbelts, they were all flung from the car. Needless to say, there weren't bodies, there were just....[I]piles[/I]. As it happened, they crashed not far from where our head coach lived. He was one of the first on the scene. Mind you, they did all this in a Muslim country (Dubai) where if you are caught drunk driving, you are basically seven different shades of fucked. Being underage and dead from driving under the influence, daddy got raided and to add to the grief of having lost their kids, he was also arrested and subsequently deported for the illegal possession of alcohol.
In school, we as members of the same team were then forced to say 'a few kind words' about these dipshits. The most I could muster up without being nasty was 'They were memorable members of the team'. It's probably a controversial opinion, but I don't feel the need to gussy up my opinion of someone just because they shuffled off this mortal coil. If they were an ass in real life and didn't get the chance to redeem themselves, they died being asses. This whole "Don't speak ill of the dead" is just a pile of horseshit.

Apparently there is a chance for snow on Friday. Cue people frantically crowding supermarkets to stock up beforehand. And as a result I'm making sandwiches tonight when I was gonna make a roasted chicken.
Also, the reasons I'm not panicking are that it's a CHANCE of SNOW, not a 100% confirmed Blizzard. And even then as long as the store is open I'll trudge the block and a half in the snow if we need anything.
