I immediately thought of banksy when I clicked this thread.
It's a good thing I wasn't the only one. :allears:

It's all fine unless it's on someone else's property without their permission in which case it's all wrong.
We're pretty much debating the differences in abstract art. What you may think is cool may not be the same for someone else and vice-versa.

Fuck off. That kind of tagging looks good. It's the stupid-ass squiggly line bullshit that shouldn't be done. Both kinds that you posted make things look nice.
Maybe I'm more open to it because I live in Melbourne.
It is wrong to do it on private property, or to just do ugly stuff.
And I think Banksy has 'intelligent' pieces, but it seems to me that they're all just stencils, so as a craftsman I don't really respect him. (if you can show me otherwise, I'll immediately change my opinion)
Graffiti on people's possessions: horribly wrong, paint my car/roller door/house I'm likely to come after you with less than friendly intentions
Graffiti on government owned things: not really right, but helps the economy, though is paid for by taxes

How could you not want something like this?
well obviously he uses stencils but you must remember that he has to make the stencils first

You wouldn't get the real detailed beautiful stuff without the basic tag styles.

Yes but they still look like they were made in photoshop... But as I see how he got started in graffiti I think he does have good drawing skills

This. A good tag is also not that easily done, and I've seen some true masterpieces in Paris. I tried to develop a nice tag myself for a while and it took me months to get something semi-decent.
I hate tagging, any kind.
Tagging is not always ugly!

btw. i love that book.
I vote nothing. If the graffiti is well made, yes. if its just some 10 year old's drawing, no.
Use light weight paint, then paint, then wash it with your tounge :D
graffiti can be beautiful pieces of self expression, but thoughtless tags are ugly as shit
Holy shit you didn't even type anything. What the fuck?

Post whore
If it is on public property I encourage and practice graffiti, on private property though I severely frown upon it. Good thing all true graff artists know not to do it on private property.

Anybody who says this isn't art:

and this is:

Needs to step the fuck back and realize just how difficult graffiti really is, not just anyone with a can of paint can walk outside and make stuff like that, or anywhere close to that for that matter. It takes years of dedication and practice to be able to.
It's unfortunately a crime.
I endorse it sometimes. on trains pretty much anytime, and buildings if it's legitimately art, and not just a 5 second tag. and as long as it's not just gang-related bullshit it's all good.

This. Try to draw the top picture with a pencil right now. See how that goes. Then take a can of spray and go to a wall and try it.

There is no post count in fast threads so it does not matter. And i did just think what he said.
It's wrong because it promotes tagging and tagging looks like utter fucking shit. I see a fuck ton more tags than I do awesome graffiti art. on it's own, I think as long as it's on public/business walls, it's fine. Don't go painting people's shit though.
