I know it's not really beer, but I was trying to get the stuff to brew sake yesterday. Couldn't get the yeast, and one of the places to get koji rice didn't have it in stock, and the other only makes it on special order, and they're a brewery. Since the one place isn't getting more until June, I'll have to stop by the local sake brewery who makes it in-house and see how much it is and when they're next making it. Now I have a 20lb bag of rice sitting in my kitchen doing nothing, and likely will for a while.
a buddy of mine says he'll plant the plants if I'd brew the beer.
long story short he's going to plant barley, rye, and 3 varieties of hops this weekend
Couple of these. One of the first attempts of the big cheap lager companies trying to brew a proper beer. Not bad, but had better.

Surprised that rolling rock is actually pretty damn good

I had their red rice ale when I was last in Michigan. I wish they had them in Ontario, but I've never seen any.

it's cloying, but for the price you can't beat it. it's much better than any of the other macro brews except maybe yeungling.
If I recall correctly, I had a nice "scotch whiskey porter" by Innis & Gunn on Monday night, part of a collection of beers that I was given a long time ago. Been laying around for quite a while, but still lovely. I'm kind of a sucker for whiskey flavours.
And speaking of beers, it's that time of the month again, meaning that the Hope's having another beer festival. I think we've called it "Dial M for Mild" this month, so that's the kind of stuff we have on tap in the marquee. Another busy week, but Friday's going to be a doozy thanks to all the stars aligning. (bank holiday weekend, payday, school break, etc)
Stella is my go to beer. It's nice to drink on a hot summer day or share a 6 pack with some buds.
Stone IPA used to be one of my favorites but I have been moving on to Troegs

I've moved on from blue moon, idk what it is, but something about this beer I just don't like. Too sweet? I'm not sure.
Yuengling Beer is up there but its been a while since I've had that. I prefer their lager over the fruity infused beers.
I do want to try darker beers, any worldwide brands I should look into, I'm more or less looking for a starting spot.
I'm open to beer trades if anyone is interested.

It's very similar to Guinness but slightly more red in color and a lot tastier IMO

Meaning?
Meaning?
choose a beer from my area that you can't get in yours and I choose a beer from your area that I can't get in mine and we trade by mail.
it's a way to try new beers without having to travel
I bought shitty bulk beer and it tastes like yeast so I decided to drink some long drink for the first time in years instead

Is there a non alcoholic hop drink? I heard hops had sedative qualities and I would like to try something with this as it intoxicant.

there's non alcoholic beers like odouls but no hops don't have any notable sedative properties. small animals exposed to large amounts show signs of sedation but it's not going to do anything to a human.
So I went on a trip to Cleveland and went to Great Lakes Brewing Co. Their Oktoberfest was amazing (my dad and I got shitfaced drinking them). They also had a Belgian Quad which was extremely fruity and 10% APV. The food there was also incredible. I got pretzel crusted chicken and it was the best thing I have ever tasted. It was cooked perfectly and was extremely juicy. Served with it was a custom mustard that is made with their Dortmunder Gold and it was incredible and I usually hate mustard.
You can buy it online too https://store.mustardmuseum.com/product/3501/spirit-mustards
I just put some on a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich and it was great.
Angel City IPA
drinking some Proper Job IPA now, it's somehow better than I remember it being when I first tried it a few months ago.

Tsingtao is dirt cheap and highly drinkable. I can put it down until i pass out (and have). It's actually decently expensive in australia tho so i don't usually get it. Im normally a spirit drinker anyway.

IPA's in general are an acquired taste
IPA's in general are an acquired taste
I generally like IPAs but my recollection of Proper Job wasn't a good one. Maybe I was too drunk to remember properly at that time.
Yo you. Yeah you. Know that jalapeno beer you posted? I went to the store and got habanero ale instead.
Im drinking it and im going "OH FUCK ME!"

Recently tried this nonsense. I don't even know what to think.
Guinness Stout, but only when I'm at the Irish bar, drafted and the keg is straight from the brewery in Ireland, any other Guinness is pretty shit, and its only about 3x the price. And 3x 1eur is 3eur.
There's a microbrew near where I lived called Maier. They make multiple types of IPA which are pretty decent and their Imperial Ale is really good. Too bad their quality isn't very consistent.
Amstel is pretty decent. Nothing special but its better than the other shit they have at my school's bar. (if you're wondering its Cruzcampo and its total piss but the locals here treat it like its holy water)
Kronenbourg 1664 is also meh but I like it. Especially the blanc ones. Also because its pretty much the better beers back when I was still living in Malaysia.
99% of the time I drink draft, because 99% of the time the stuff that comes in cans/bottles are just disappointing versions of the actual beer.
Except for these babies, they are truly magnificent. Anything that comes out of Hitachino Nest is just wonderful. And I absolutely hate Japanese beer. None of that Asahi/Kirin/Sapporo shit for me thanks.

I would totally want to try this though,

too bad the only way to get it is via the Ghibli museum and its not easy to get the tickets.
Brewing my own!

FUCK YOU IT'S OCTOBER

Sam Adams Octoberfest is the most drinkable beer I've ever had.
It's not my favorite, but I could probably drink it by the gallon and not get tired of it.
