Am I poor? I think so, my friend doesn't. - General

You my friend, are not poor. I knwo how being poor is. Getting noodles 6 days a week is not nice. Luckiely I was to young to fully understand the situation.

I possibly won't have a home in two days, I'm living with my 50 year old mother who doesn't have a job, and is barely trying to get one. I can't get a job since every place I look that is within walking distance either isn't hiring, or doesn't hire minors. For living in Florida, yes, I believe I'm poor. Not under poverty. I haven't been to a doctor in years since I we can't afford to visit.

Acting like being poor as if it's a badge or something won't help you get anywhere in life. Caring so much about what people think of your family's income really is useless, you simply belong to the lucky sperm club, that's all.

I now think of poverty like how those kids on the "Christian Children Fund" commercials, like where it says they eat hair and live in metal shacks with shit running down the road. I don't live like that so I only identify myself as poor. Low income, which we have, is considered poor. We are trying for a better live, which is exactly why we aren't under the poverty line. Poverty here in America is basically homeless, like, living in some blue 78' Suburban or like that old lady did that was on the news here.

In my opinion, you're poor based off of what you've been saying. Your friend is also, in my opinion, trolling the shit out of you and possibly getting laughs over making you seem to almost "brag" about being poor. The reason I believe you're poor in my opinion is because from what I know and have seen, what you've got is very little. Poor is also relative which is why that specific word is never used when talking in general. There's a poverty line, but that's relative to the location. If you lived where I lived, you would be far below poverty. When I compare your life to mine, you appear as poor to me. However, if your life was compared to that of an African child, you would appear rich to them.

$16000 = £10300 What job? cos whatever it is its badly paid and your probably on the English min wage which is £5 something. In England avg pay its probably about £18000 so yes you are poor. Your yearly wage is only enough to send me to school for 2 terms at £5000 a term and £15000 a year.

Poor is relative. People say I'm rich, judging by the size of my house. Their opinions change once they make it inside. Every time someone invents something new, they take their own current situation as "average". Take the British and their time zones and maps and stuff. We're in the middle of the bloody world map. I bet if someone like.. an Australian invented the same system, the world map would be upside down and time would be centred around Australia. So I think it's better to take your own situation as "average", and try to aspire and reach the higher levels.

We are living off child support that ends in a year since my dad was injured at his job. And by my moms current job attitude, looks like I'm living with my grandma again.
