Nothing. She's putting a stop to it before it starts. She's trying to make it work with her boyfriend. She says he may not need her now but one day he will. He's schizophrenic you see, so he's only getting worse with time. When he's fucked and gone she'll have a purpose. I was bored after about 40 pages.
Once you get over the initial "OH MY GOD THIS IS GOING TO TAKE FOREVER" hurdle, it picks up pretty quickly.
You could skip straight to Act 5, the current story going on with the Trolls.

But because Homestuck follows a complex story you'd be confused as fuck if you did that. Act 1 is the slowest act, it mainly serves to introduce game concepts and the players, like a tutorial level in a video game. It's boring compared to the rest of the story, but once you get through it it becomes much more entertaining and interesting.
