I dare you to watch the movie.
Oh trust me, I have, and I know that it's complete shit.
Please note, I never once said that they're good. They're simply better than people give them credit for, which is to say that they have like three good songs out of the hundred or so that they've made over the past 20 years.

Award ceremonies are bullshit and should not be used as a general guide for what good stuff any medium produced in any given year. In fact I'm going to bet Mad Max is not going to win any Oscars because of how snobby the whole thing tends to be.
That would be great if it did though cause it truly deserves it
Yeah, but the nitpicks are either super obvious or so insignificant that it just becomes boring.
Cinemasins is boring.
I like them because of the fact that they point out small fun things that I wouldn't have noticed. But their jokes really are repetetive and not that fun.
Mad Max: Fury Road is good, but it's hella overrated and the fact that it got nominated for Best Picture is ridiculous.
But at the same time, I'd like to see it win in a way. It'd be so different, and I don't think they're making any more of them. I think it totally deserves best make-up, though.
I think it deserves best picture for hitting all of the right marks. It's got a solid framework for the story with a solid female lead with solid special effects and a solid story arc. It really felt like a journey and less like the meaningless shlock I expected it to be. It wasn't filled with any bullshit - I honestly can't think of very many flaws to the movie, and that's me being honest.
Inside Out was the best movie of 2015 if we're being honest with ourselves.
Maybe I just need to rewatch it. I remember it being basically one long action scene/car chase with good special effects and decent acting. The character arcs are decent, but they're nothing I haven't seen before.
Like I said though, I am totally okay if it wins. It did enough things right and it seemed to make all the fans really, really happy.
I don't think it was trying to be groundbreaking with the story - the focus was definitely on the action. It felt like fine-tuned portions, though - fine-tuned so that you had everything you needed for maximum enjoyment. Enough story to go with the explosions - it was a special balance that you don't see very often in my opinion.
hella overrated
I'm not commenting on your statement itself because I haven't seen the film, but I'm starting to think the term overrated is just meaningless. It's always used in lieu of any actual criticism, and it's use on the internet just seems to boil down to "stop liking what I don't like", and who are you to say that other people's opinions are wrong?

I was surprised how sad the movie got

Let's also ditch the word "edgy", while we're at it. "Edgy" is being used in place of "extremism" when edgy used to have it's own meaning. My friend was talking to me about it last night:
There's also a new layer to all of this. At least, it seems newer to me. On the internet, having a non-mainstream opinion suddenly makes you a neckbeard edgelord. They're attacking you for questioning things, you're "trying to be edgy" for not either just accepting everything as is or being aloof and apathetic, all "well, what are you going to do about it?"
I wonder if H.R. Giger was a teenager today, if people would just discount his art as edgy and grimdark. "I mean, it's well drawn, but come on. I bet there's an eyeliner shortage where this guy lives."
It seems now it's just reduced to "Extremist" or "Try hard". I mean, that's basically all anyone on the internet means when they say edgy. Just minus the specificity of the religious or political part; it can be any topic.
"Walking Simulators" are a perfectly legitimate genre.

I think it would of been way better it was just about the kid and not the emotions.

seriously though, it's a 20x19px image, it's not even obnoxious like that cat.
It's literally called the annoying dog.
Not the best, but when it came out, it was my favorite film of the year. I think Anomalisa deserves the Best Animated Feature Oscar more than Inside Out.
Then again, my favorite film of the year was Star Wars.
Same. It honestly got better and better each time I've watched it. It brought humor back to the franchise with well written characters, and the person who is now my 2nd favorite villain in the series (2nd only to Tarkin).
It has a couple of issues, but overall god damn it was so good.

Inside Out was pretty meh as far as Pixar movies go.
"Walking Simulators" are a perfectly legitimate genre.
it's one of my favorite genres, no joke
Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are both douche bags with huge egos
Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are both douche bags with huge egos
They're polar opposites actually. Bill Nye's TV character is supposed to be a know-it-all douchebag but he's really chill in person. Neil deGrasse Tyson acts all calm and collected when on camera but he's hella egotistical behind the scenes.

Really? My high school chemistry teacher said that she had met him a long time ago and he was rude. Maybe he was just having a bad day or trying to stay in character?

The Grass Tycoon also has a history of basically making shit up and preaching to the choir.
For instance he once claimed to be in a jury for some drug case, but could never make up his mind as to the details (which seemed to change each time he told the story to people).
they're both fine but all the people who worship them are morons. They're almost like some kind of weird idol replacement for people who aren't religious.
pop science in general is just fucking painful. "I fucking love science!" No, you love reading sensationalized headlines and pretending to be a genius.
I thought I loved science, then I tried theoretical physics for a month. We may think we love it but most of us really just like looking at its ass when it walks by.

Physics is like a relationship with a lot of arguing and stress that leads to really passionate and angry sex
AmazingAtheist is an alright dude.

You mean that really weird film with the Uncanny Valley scaled up to 11? I'm sorry, I can't. The Force Awakens most definitely for Film of the Year, but this?

Too uncanny for me.
"Walking Simulators" are a perfectly legitimate genre.
They could easily be racked up to 11 and made super interesting
PM wants to bring in 50k refugees, for the love of god PLEASE make sure that no single men come anywhere near Canada. Families and women only. I don't care if I look racist for saying this, but I fear for the future of this country after all the shit happening in Europe right now.
If you kick your child out of the house before they're 30, you're a terrible parent
Kicking a child out when they are 25-29 sounds reasonable unless they are heavily autistic/need support
Kids have to stay home later and later because of how our society works now, they just cannot make enough to live on their own.
If they could, they probably would've moved out. But to say "Sorry son, I know you can't afford anything, but.. goodbye!" isn't good parenting
Lol you live in the United States, if it was Greece or something then I would agree.
