you know the romans made some pretty insanely detailed and realistic sculptures and such yeah? Late in the roman empire they also made this; and its not because becoming an artist was "easier" or art had dumbed down but because the values/ideals of the people commissioning and creating art changed.
By the third century, art and creativity was dying out in the ancient world. There's little decent art, philosophy, or literature in general in Europe from the late roman empire up until the rebirth in the eleventh century under Christianity. What little existed sat in a sea of misery and shit. Even things from the time of hadrian or aurelius are crap in comparison to what came before.
Alright, this is art but its shit art that shouldn't be purchased for millions by governments. This isn't art aiming to express an idea/feeling or be beautiful. Its just people trying to piss people off or be elitists without actually being that good at anything or knowing anything. Is it wrong that I think art sold in the millions should be something that took alot of effort? Is a giant hulahoop really worth millions?
funny that you say Marcel Duchamp's Fountain didn't express an idea when he literally made it to say "this shit isn't beautiful but you'll try to make it out like it is anyway." he was actively challenging pretentious know-it-all artists to find a deeper purpose in a work that existed solely to confuse them, and that's the least elitist thing i can imagine. you're closer to agreeing with him than you know.
[t]http://img1.game-oldies.com/sites/default/files/packshots/sony-playstation/dragon-ball-z-ultimate-battle-22-usa.jpg[/t] This game is pretty decent. Way better than Final Bout, which for some reason people say is better.
HowToBasic is comedy cancer
I used to browse DAAS a lot but I stopped when I realized a lot of stuff being posted there were made by mentally ill people or children and I started feeling like an asshole. I've been thinking a lot lately about how we like to laugh at people who put a lot of effort into something if they don't have a very high level of skill at it. I'm trying to figure out at what point that just becomes needlessly cruel and rude. I'm conflicted because, boy, I sure do love really bad movies. But it's all starting to weigh on my conscience a bit lately, I must admit.
If you're talking about the thread, people don't search for "retarted people who make art" they just search for bad art. If it's made by a mentally-impaired guy, well that's a coincidence. Doesn't make the art not bad. And I don't see how autism, downs, or scizo would affect artistic ability. Wasn't there a really famous scizo artist who made really awesome pictures? [t]https://endofthegame.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/schizophrenic-cat-1.jpg[/t] And I assume that's why most people laugh at that dude, he's so full of himself.
All this is proving to me that schizophrenic person is doing a better job at art than Yoko Ono screaming into a microphone. It's actually showing the transition of a man's mental state quite well.
HowToBasic is comedy cancer
WeTeachUHow2 is far better
howtobasic would've been good if his videos had slowly become more and more esoteric and if he changed up the formula constantly instead, it's like... oh, eggs again. hilarious.

Then it devolved into harassing the poor people on their pages and submissions and i was really put off by that. Eventually it got to "look at this gross fetish art" which may or may not have had a lot of effort and attention to detail put into it. I don't want to raid peoples' submissions or see (potentially well drawn) fetish art, i want to see hilarious sonic OC reference sheets drawn by 15 year olds that don't accept constructive criticism.
I don't see any humor in cringe humor or laughing at people who draw terrible art on DeviantArt, and I never have. Like, what's the appeal? Does it make you feel more "normal," does it make you go "at least I'm not like that guy," or something? I just get sad and upset both for the user being like how they are, and for the people laughing at them especially if they're young or have some mental disability.
I feel there has to be a certain balance to it. Making fun of terrible art/generally awful cringy things in private is one thing, but it's a whole other thing to go after the people behind it. Like, I find Sonichu and the whole "plot" to it hilarious, but all the people going after is creator (forget his name right now) and antagonizing him for a laugh is just awful. Dude wants to right a stupid story about a stupid Pikachu-Sonic hybrid thing, let him do it in peace. That he has a legitimate mental disability only makes it worse. I make jokes about all the mind-bogglingly insane stuff posted in the Nexus Mods imageshare a lot, but I never go after the submitters themselves. It's ok to make fun of something that's terrible, bad is bad and should be treated as such, you just shouldn't extend that treatment to the people behind it. If any of the Nexus users I've made fun of were to talk to me about it for some reason, I'd give them some legitimate criticism in hopes that they'll improve, and nothing more though I do make an exception for people who have no mental disability to speak of and get irrationally angry when criticized and are just awful in general
Dragonball is so much fucking better than Dragonball Z.
D-Sides is the best Gorillaz album
Dragonball and Dragonball Z are stupid and overlong.
I heard Kai cuts down on all the filler/pointless charging scenes and just goes through the meaty bits, haven't seen it yet though.
The only thing I hate about DBZ is how the characters stop and start talking mid-fight every 5 minutes about the weather or some shit like that. I know that there are more Japanese cartoons that do that but DBZ gets away with this shit way more than it should. Hell even One Piece and Fist of the North Star doesn't have the characters talking more than they need to during fights. And most the times the talking comes from the people that are watching the fight rather than the ones participating.
if you thought the "gay fish" episode of south park was funny, you are a dullard
I heard Kai cuts down on all the filler/pointless charging scenes and just goes through the meaty bits, haven't seen it yet though.
It does, but the worst part is they changed gohan's voice it's horrible it's goku GT's VA
Adding onto the whole topic of mental illness and artwork: [t]http://www.aimusic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/maze11.jpg[/t] William Kurelek is a fine example of an artist who had went through some seriously horrid shit, and used art as his method of portraying his view of everything around him and in the respect of the picture I posted("The Maze"), within himself as well.
Dragonball and Dragonball Z are stupid and overlong.
Nah man, DB moves pretty fast. That's why I prefer it. [editline]30th January 2016[/editline] And the fucking soundtrack UNF
I like Madden and I wish it was on PC
Just finished it, and despite all the positive reviews, I really really thought Mirror's Edge sucked.
if you thought the "gay fish" episode of south park was funny, you are a dullard
What's so special to point out that specific episode?
HowToBasic is comedy cancer
His videos get old so fast. Also I'd probably say the same for maxmoefoe.
While i get that Serious Sam 4 is another prequel, I can't help but think that it should also be a sequel to Serious Sam 2 due to time travel shenanigans.
What's so special to point out that specific episode?
full disclosure, it's the one I see quoted the most on the internet and that annoys the piss out of me I give other episodes the benefit of the doubt (I haven't seen a whole lot of episodes) but the show's following kind of bugs me, considering that (from what I have seen) it's not very clever
if you thought the "gay fish" episode of south park was funny, you are a dullard
It was funny at first if you heard the 808s & Heartbreak album. The show was making fun of Kayne's use autotune where him saying "fish sticks" just sounded like "fish dicks". The joke got old real fast where people who hated Kayne just use it as an insult. Even Kayne himself liked the joke, but don't quote me on that. "Choke a South Park writer with a fish stick" -Kayne West 2010
I will never dislike Ubisoft for as long as they continue supporting Rocksmith 2014. That's all they got on me.
Just finished it, and despite all the positive reviews, I really really thought Mirror's Edge sucked.
It's the epitome of "really awesome idea with shit everything else"
After a certain point, playing games on a huge monitor is actually a lot worse. I have a 21 inch monitor and I find I play tons better than I do on a large TV, and I tend to enjoy the experience more.
