Penny Arcade was, at best, sub-par
Aliens should have something going on in downstairs instead of the Ken/Barbie smoothness.
I don't find Filthy Frank funny. He's just strange, a prime example of "random doesn't equal funny" and he kinda creeps me out.
I use avatars as a major way in identifying people.
Sites without avatars or identifying titles (e.g, most parts of reddit without CSS fuckery) I find kinda hard to read because everyone just blurs together into one homogenous arguing mass
Speaking of avatars and shit, I like some of the 'shittier' aspects of forum culture that we don't allow here, like signatures and text emotes (I know we recently got emotes back but I mean people using shit like xD)
it's unnecessary and admittedly stupid but I grew up using forums and I've just got a soft spot for that stuff

Filthy Franks brand of humor tends to be more in line with 4chan, from what I've seen. He's definitely not for everyone, some people I know think hes fucking hilarious while others refuse to watch anything with him in it.
Depends on the forum, a forum like this tries to keep things somewhat civil with a relatively high posting standard. And in that case, signatures and XD don't really fit. Though some forums that are basically shitpost central 24/7 are great with signatures

I wouldn't quite describe him as random, that's more associated with LE EBIN RANDOM JUMPCUT channels. Filthy frank is more surreal and tasteless than random, you're supposed to be creeped out or at least go "what the fuck"

maybe compared to shit forums like somethingawful
maybe compared to shit forums like somethingawful
My first forums I actively posted in were the roblox forums so eh I suppose I might have had a very low baseline
On the topic of Filthy Frank:
I only really watch him for his rant videos. His gross out videos don't appeal to me.
I really don't understand Filthy Frank
Why, how do people find him funny? He's cringeworthy at best.
i like filthy frank because hes unique. nobody else does what he does. but the appeal has been wearing off lately, and if more people start to do as him, ill probably stop watching him
I think that Rick & Morty shoehorns "emotional" moments that feel cheap and out of place. I always see fans talking about [sp]omg when rick tries to kill imhself omg!!! so sad[/sp].
I like the show but its never going to an elecit an emotional reaction from me with those types of scenes, the only thing that came close [sp]was when rick and morty killed their alternative selves and replaced them because that was some trippy shit but i dont care about family drama[/sp]
i think it's hilarious how the word "dank" (close enough) means "thanks" in german.
yes, i know i'm very immature.

Surprised that of all the german words that make us English speakers giggle you picked that tbh.
Writings On The Wall is a better bond song than Radiohead's Spectre.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Spectre much more as a song, but it would feel totally out of place in a bond movie.
I don't think the JonTronSuperShow parody guy is that funny
I don't think the JonTronSuperShow parody guy is that funny
It's hilarious for the first video or five minutes, whichever comes first.
I honestly just love the fact that it exists.
Ultimately Christianity (The Catholic Church in particular) seems to be a positive force for good in the world.
I thought Brutal Doom was pretty bad. I remember liking it at first but all the excess gore, explosions, immature taunts and half-dead imps moaning in pain overstays it welcome real quick. I just felt like I was playing a parody of the original game.
The "creator" of the mod is also a massive cunt.
I think the mod itself is pretty bad, but I think some of the drama surrounding the author has been ridiculously inflated to the point where I just don't ever want to talk about that guy. He's done stupid things, but I think they've been repeated to such a degree that isn't warranted and without forgiveness. I think people are parroting hate.

Both the rigidity that promotes a lack of forgiveness and judgement and the fluidity in interpretation that promotes people speaking on behalf of God creates way more problems than I think you're willing to accept.
I think that religions disables critical thinking in a lot of individuals mainly because of how these religions can be abused. Religion isn't inherently bad but becomes bad because of awful people and enablers.
With that said I enjoy seeing you post about religion.
If Frenchman, Englishman etc. aren't considered offensive then Chinaman shouldn't either.

The big issue with signatures is nobody ever seems to understand you should keep your signature at a reasonable size. They always pack it with so many pics, gifs, and videos that it ends up like 10x the size of their average posts. Even if you provide something like a collapsible spoiler it's retardedly common for people to simply not use them at all. If people actually made use of those sorts of spoilers or otherwise self-moderated the size of their signatures I'd completely agree with you on both parts that they're not a horrible thing. People just are completely lacking in self control.

It also is really laggy compared to most mods for the game. Try it on an Oblige generated level with a lot of demons and as soon as you shoot your gun you'll start getting a stupid amount of lag. Not quite NUTS.wad levels of lag but still enough to be virtually unplayable.

SA is dogger, I really can't get behind the posting culture there, it feels so weird and impersonal and kinda oddly competitive?? It's hard to describe
If Frenchman, Englishman etc. aren't considered offensive then Chinaman shouldn't either.
I think less the phrasing of the word is what people find offensive but how it is most often used. When someone says englishman it's usually with a jovial or proud town, but "chinaman" is almost exclusively used disparagingly. Intent is an important part of any exchange. It's why I don't care at all when my friends throw slurs at me but some random dude taking a swing at my qualities I find annoying
no one should be offended by slurs
like seriously if someone says something about you or your nationality then just say something equally back
chances are you'll offend your offender more

Racism isn't nice.
I just don't get people that get offended so easily, I'm impossible to offend because why the fuck would I care what they think :v:
I do enjoy watching the shitstorm it causes though, shits hilarious.
man i can never understand this "no one should be offended by anything" shit, so many things have influenced our society for the better just by having sensibilities to defy or defend. imagine a world where George Carlin was perfectly uncontroversial and you'd heard all his jokes before, or Nietzsche didn't get pissed off by Christians. it would be the fucking lamest. sometimes you need to sit down and get really, really mad at something or someone before you can change anything.
I get you but not everybody has a thick skin like that.
Just because somebody can get offended easily doesn't mean they're instantly shit.
When you're with a friend who's cool with it, it's fine to throw shit at each other, but that doesn't mean you go around throwing it at everyone else like a moron.

no i'm agreeing with you, i'm saying the ability to take offense is a big part of what keeps society from becoming stagnant.

I think it's good for a variety of reasons, mainly in the longterm impact it has. Ultimately Catholicism is a wide-ranging religion with a lot of flexibility in it and it covers the whole raft of human experiences. You have Koreans who mix their old Confucian practices with christianity, to philosophers and writers who were formerly atheists. You have good and bad people in it, rich and poor, ignorant and learned - yet it can appeal to all demographics given the right explanation to the person involved.
If the christian religion perished along with the Roman Empire in the fifth century, I think that the world would have been a much darker and sadder place. Slavery would be most likely still around, and the revival of science and learning retarded. We'd probably be still living as subsistence farmers. The concept of "Christendom" that encompasses multiple nations wouldn't exist, making the creation and sustaining of international institutions much harder. It would be a poorer world, both materially and spiritually, with the worldview of people much smaller and more local. The achievements and knowledge of Roman and Greek civilization would be lost entirely. You would also lack Islam, Sikhism, Ba-hai, to list just a few.
