Not much of a consolation.
I tried to say that as neutral as possible. Since some people dread that fact and others find comfort in it.
I think Half-Life 1 is one of the best games out there in terms of gameplay and graphics.
I think Half-Life 1 is one of the best games out there in terms of gameplay and graphics.
Okay I kind of want and explanation for this
Okay I kind of want and explanation for this
Good for its time, interesting visuals, still holds up today?
There's a difference between saying "it was good for it's time and still holds up" and saying "Best game in terms of graphics"
There is also a difference between "best game in terms of gameplay and graphics" and "one of the best games in terms of gameplay and graphics"
Ohh boy ya got meeee
Okay I kind of want and explanation for this
In my opinion, the low-ish detail of models and textures stand out really well. It doesn't suffer from being over-detailed like some games are, and they're not under-detailed where they look like they came from the uncanny valley. I guess that's a simple explanation.
I think for RTS games to return they'll have to be toned down in scope and slowed down, most people don't want to deal with the hassle of controlling large armies and building huge bases, nor do they want to deal with the ridiculous amount of actions per minute required in some RTS games. I feel like Warcraft 3 did it pretty well, there's just the right amount of units and buildings, the armies aren't too big, it plays at a nice pace, and finally there are heroes which are a neat idea that I'd like to see in more RTS games.
As far as pacing, I would like to see more RTS games have some form of time control like DEFCON where it averages the players preferred speeds at the time.
To me it seems like they're just like MMOs that try to compete with world of warcraft. Just like what wow has done with theme-park MMOs, starcraft 2 has done for that sort of RTS game. Why play a new game when another has a much larger, very established community with years of relative balance? In order to be successful a game pretty much has to be like total war, which is why I'm at least somewhat hopeful about dawn of war.
RTS isn't only a multiplayer genre though. I don't think most RTSs out there are even trying to be Starcraft anyway. And while no RTS can compete with Starcraft as an esport, an RTS can be successful without being an esport. Like how no game can beat CS at what it does at the moment but there's still room for Battlefields and BioShocks.
I'm not really interested in base building RTSs now a days, but stuff like Men of War is great.
I believe whitewalkers and worgs are subsets of the same species. Here is why: Worgs can possess other beings. In the same manner, whitewalkers make wights in the same manner. The baby I believe when the white walker touched it, made it into its vessel. So whitewallkers are a more specialized form of worgs.
Tribes > Quake
mass effect would've been a better series if they had never explained the reapers at all
I think dreadlocks look nice, so long as they're well-maintained anyway It's probably not the kind of hairstyle I would go for, though. Long hair looks bad on me.
I can speak for experience as I had dreads for about 4 years. The reason well-maintained dreads are rare is because it because exponentially difficult to maintain the longer they are. It is basically trying to keep something chaotic completely organised, and they are a huge commitment, and getting them out (by manually picking them out with needles) took a few days. Only get them if it is the same sort of conviction that you'd get something like a tattoo, they aren't easily reversible and require a lot (more than just regular long hair) of maintenance if you don't want to look like a dropout.
dreads on white people look just horrible
Perhaps. I had far more random compliments from passersby than criticisms from anyone at all, though.
i don't think the average person is going to be enough of a dick to criticize another person on the streets just because of a minor part of their appearance
I mean from anyone at all, which includes people who know me well like classmates and family members and such. The criticisms I got from people I know were outnumbered by compliments from randoms. Most odd of which was this one old dude who started feeling them when I was at a checkout giving the cashier stuff. He then patted me on the back and said "I like it". It was strange but I'm sure he meant well.
Sports Interactive should make Handegg Manager as an April Fools joke.
The best RTS ever is Eufloria
imho vanilla Starcraft covers just about all of my rts needs
RTS games truly bore me.
Who in their right mind doesn't like to command thousands of soldiers to send them to victory? I live for RTS, especially Total War and Empire at War.
I actually like mobas.
Stronghold Crusader is pretty easy to get into if you want to try out a fun RTS. It's also the only RTS where walls are done well and isn't just a simple barrier. Build a staircase next to it and then send archers up there to defend your ass. Siege weapons don't just simply damage the wall's healthbar, the wall actually lowers and lowers as you throw rocks at it.
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance will forever be the best RTS game ever made. I like Starcraft alot but it was extremely overrated. Star Craft 2 was horrible. [editline]8th February 2016[/editline] Also long live Red Alert 1 and 2.
"Worst CnC" is actually the best CnC
Yeah but Men of War is the best RTS
Age of Empires 1, 2 Cossacks: Back to War
Men of War is still better. Quite frankly, I've gotten bored of base building RTS's and much prefer how series such as Men of War and Total War handle their real time aspects.
While on the subjects of RTS. I found Dawn of War: Soulstorm to be alright. Dark Crusade is miles better, sure. But I can still enjoy Soulstorm. I also like the change in direction for Dawn of War 2 from base building to more squad based game.
Dawn of War/Rise of Nations/Zero Hour all represent the best of the best in their subgenre I think actually AoE3 is better than Zero Hour but I'm not sure where it fits in
