since we're on the topic, my unpopular opinion on western RPGs is that Oblivion is terrible
Oblivion came out in 2006; babies born on its release date are currently fourth graders. At the time, nothing even came close to how expansive, interactive, and lush with detail it was.

I still thought it was bad, it's not like I just played it recently. To me, the world felt vast but shallow, the story/characters were laughably bad, and the gameplay was dull.
Can I talk about Fallout 4 as someone who has worked with the Skyrim Creation kit for 1000+ hours and knows the creation/gamebryo engine and its limitation. As everyone knows, Fallout 4 uses the same exact engine as Skyrim, except for a few modifications I'm sure they implemented. This is a terrible thing because the creation engine is a terrible engine for a game in 2016. It's scripting engine is a mess, it's physics engine is a mess, and it's lighting engine is a mess. Many people know about the physics, so I won't touch on that. If you ever played a bethesda with mods, 50% of your crashes or save game problems are most likely mod related because someone didn't properly make a script. The way skyrim handles scripts is incredibly fragile. 1 improperly made script can increase your savegame size to 100,000kb, and I don't blame the mod creators (that much). As someone who writes scripts, you have to be extra careful not to overload the damn scripting engine. Scripting delay is a problem, meaning if you try to execute a vital function while some other scripts are running, then you'll have a delay in a measurement of seconds depending on what you have installed, meaning there are heavy limitations on what you can do with scripts. Look at any other scripting engine and this problem is non existent. There are a ton of tools out there to detect script latency and removing savegame bloat caused by scripts. In Skyrim, there were dynamic lights. These made dynamic shadows which in turn made the game look nicer and more realistic at the cost of a massive performance penalty. To get an idea of how bad these are, the engine refuses to render more than 4 in game, and 2 in the editor. 1 dynamic light can drop your fps by 5-10 depending on your graphics card (high end ones usually do 5) in 2011. Dynamic lights were incredibly rare in Skyrim, I only know of 1 that exists and it's in one of the DLCs (Dragonborn). Unfortunately, dynamic lights are also used in Fallout 4 HEAVILY. It's one of the contributing factors as to why the system requirements are is so damn high. Everyone knows that dynamic lights can cause a minor performance hit, but Fallout gives a major one. Source 1 handles dynamic lights better than the creation engine does.
Hotline Miami isn't that hard
Either bethesda do a 180 or The elder scrolls VI will be shit.
Why don't we just all agree that dwarf fortress is the best RPG ever.
John Oliver is turning to shit. This started in like late 2015 but he's gotten worse. His internet video about abortion had really dumb jokes, and this one video I watched about hollywood whitewashing (casting white actors for roles of non-white characters) and it used "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise as an example of hollywood whitewashing. If anyone has seen the Last Samurai, I don't need to explain how fucking terrible of an example that is. if you haven't, Tom Cruise plays an American Civil War Soldier who dances with japaneses wolves where most of the cast is Japanese actors.
I hate politicomedians in general. Not because of who they are as people or comedians, but because they act like they're somehow not political pundits. I die a little inside every time I hear someone say they trust a comedy show as a source of news. Just because they represent the "good" side of topics doesn't make their material less manipulative or more reliable. "Last Week Tonight" is a gross program because its entire gig is that it blurs the lines.
Daryl Dixon is a terrible character
John Oliver was great the first couple of episodes, not sure how it went downhill
John Oliver was great the first couple of episodes, not sure how it went downhill
The show uses experts to get its facts and some experts (on social issues in particular) are pretty stupid.. err wrong.
Why don't we just all agree that dwarf fortress is the best RPG ever.
Pretty sure having a 30 year out of date control scheme kinda precludes it being the best rpg, lol.
Dwarf fortress has undeniably shit graphics and its difficult to learn, not to mention that it's generally a cumbersome mess
dwarf fortress is about as hard to learn as vim
dwarf fortress is about as hard to learn as vim
I haven't done anything that needed something more complex than nano, though.
Why don't we just all agree that dwarf fortress is the best RPG ever.
listen here u lil shit runescape is the best RPG ever no contest [editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
Daryl Dixon is a terrible character
At least the current show runner (gimple?) gave him some actual development... But that fell flat on its face because Daryl is about as interesting as a pool of mud. Merle was better
Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the ugliest celebrities i've ever seen and it really confuses me why people found him attractive.
other than the combat/visuals, FO:NV is better in every way possible. The characters in NV are still fresh in my mind compared to 4 when i haven't played NV in like 3 years.
NV is possibly one of the three best RPG's of the last 15 years I wish there was a tes with this level of depth and freedom [editline]24th February 2016[/editline] TWD stopped being amazing after the 3rd season. Up untill that it was really BrBa tier.
I want more immigrants to come to this country. [sp]Then maybe the food might get better.[/sp]
listen here u lil shit runescape is the best RPG ever no contest
runescape is fuckin' awesome. I haven't played it in a while and I feel like I'd be too far behind.
I think people who pre order games and pay for dlc(season passes) without knowing contents of it should be blamed for buggy unfinished games. They are enabling it. [editline]24th February 2016[/editline] Also what is marketing, of course you were promised the best thing ever.
Dwarf fortress has undeniably shit graphics and its difficult to learn, not to mention that it's generally a cumbersome mess
Dwarf Fortress is not nearly as hard to learn as people make it out to be, it seems way more intimidating than it is. And it's an ASCII game. If you're hoping to get into it for awesome graphical fidelity you are doing something wrong with your life. Use a tileset if you want, but I'll keep my ability to download the game and play it on any computer when I'm bored. It can be cumbersome though, but not in general imo. But managing labors without Dwarf Therapist sucks and everyone who plays knows it. Hopefully the UI for that will be improved at some point.
Daryl Dixon is a terrible character
I wish i had multiple accounts locked and loaded so i can put 100 disagrees on your post here!! (but seriously, he's a great character) [editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the ugliest celebrities i've ever seen and it really confuses me why people found him attractive.
it's not about what he looks like, it's all about his name.
I'm not a huge fan of comics, maybe that's the thing
there are whole episodes of TWD that feature 0 zombies and you have to stop and try and think of why the writers even bothered with that episode.
Because any good zombie fiction is never about the zombies.
there are whole episodes of TWD that feature 0 zombies and you have to stop and try and think of why the writers even bothered with that episode.
For actual character development?
I want more immigrants to come to this country. [sp]Then maybe the food might get better.[/sp]
I just noticed that my flag was changed to that of the united states. I'm in britain at the moment (and created this account here). I watched a couple of episodes of Man VS food. That and guns are reasons to want to tour america. Also I liked storage hunters in America, but the UK version just had the worst people.
zombies are plain dead as a concept anyways, I cannot imagine how a outbreak can happen same with planet of the apes
no zombies are totally realistic remember when dogs started getting rabies, and then all the dogs in the world got rabies and started working together to hunt the uninfected?
