There could be some benefits to fucking about with genetics and humans. Tibetans have a lot of adaptations to high-altitude living that allows them to live for longer, be more likely to survive childbirth, and generally suffer less health problems from living at high altitudes.
Andean peoples have relatively few of these adaptations, so it might be an idea to get a hundred or so young Tibetan men and move them to Peru to marry women there or have them donate a lot of sperm to sperm banks there to help the country. I mean it'd take a few centuries at the minimum but the genes would spread relatively rapidly throughout the population and massively improve the health of the people in the Andes.
If zombies were real, they would deteriorate really quickly. Thats why it annoys me in TWD when you see zombies grabbing people and they can't seem to push them off. The zombies muscles would be so brittle that you could literally push them and they'd just fall apart. Same with when they bite, most of them would have their teeth completely gone or if not, they wouldn't be able to penetrate anything or break skin at all.
Thats why the undead wouldn't be real, but a very hostile case rabies could be.

evidence: fucking goddamn Ben Carson
Headcrab zombies are the best zombies
Corporations and people should be fined by percentage of assets, more severe higher percentage and vise versa

Well, in his defense, he is a very good neurosurgeon (or so I've heard). He just also happens to be fucking nuts
I am really tired of scientific breakthroughs and innovative hipster startups that promise to use new cutting edge technology to finally bring drinkable water to africa
I'm very sorry, but your special filtered water bottle/portable solar sill/hydrogen peroxide generator is not going to change the world. no amount of carefully-edited viral product demonstration videos will make your product affordable or sustainable for the people that actually need it.
There are ideas that legitimately could be cost-effective and efficient, but they're not backed by anybody large enough to distribute the systems. So the idea peters out when the money runs dry and it's never heard from again.
Game of the Year is a meaningless 'award' that exists pretty much for advertising purposes only. It's made further meaningless by the fact that it is given by pretty much whoever and can apparently be given any number of times, meaning everyone does it
like imagine if every other movie won Academy Award for Best Picture, awarded by ___, it'd be fucking dumb
Kevin Conroy would be perfect for an older and weathered live action Batman.

you can sterilize water by boiling it over a wood fire; it really doesn't get more affordable or scaleable than that. If you want to clean up the taste afterwards, you can run it through a carbon filter; I used to buy them for my turtle's tank at $3 a pop, but you can also make them out of charcoal and cloth.
The problems associated with clean water are organizational, not technological. People need to live near fuel sources, they need to be educated about things like diarrhea and waste contamination, and they to build bathrooms more carefully.
I couldn't get into Portlandia. I watched the first two episodes and couldn't continue, it was just the same joke for 30 minutes.

The issue (at least for me, personally) is that it's not something you can say 'watch episode x' because it's not the episodes that are good, but rather each individual skit is either funny or not, even with the same series of skits. e.g. the bookstore owners has skits I love but others were bland and meh.
I'd recommend watching it when you want to multi-task while doing something else, when you want some background noise, or in-between a real series to binge-watch.

You can find those funny without hating the fandoms or making fun of them.

I wrote an article I've kept to myself that I've wanted to turn into a video for a long time. Here's that article:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/965202/facepunch/WIWW-false_representation.doc
It has sentences that are meant to pair with images and stuff like that but you still get the idea.
I kind of want the next Animal Crossing to go back to the top-down perspective of the original. I think it made things feel a lot comfier somehow.
Or even better, include the ability to toggle between top-down and the normal perspective.
if you'd willingly spend 60k per year to live in a dorm and be taught gender studies, you are fucked up

considering a sex change is about 1/3 the price, you're quite literally correct on this one.
A shooting ended with the shooter alive but stopped is better than ending with them killed

It's the best way to learn from them.
I don't find these funny.
I just find them sad, and the people going out of their way to hate them, even sadder.
I don't even see what making fun of these are trying to accomplish, other than a smug sense of self-satisfaction. I just can't make fun of others to make myself feel better, it's against my own nature.
if you or someone else finds it funny and then it naturally becomes an in-joke that's not going out of your way
if you laugh at them for like ten minutes and stalk their fb page and work your hatred of them into everything you say then that's going out of your way
It's the best way to learn from them.
Nah, it means society can have less loss of life if it's possible to reintegrate them

why would you want to try and rehabilitate a mass shooter??
they're worth nothing aside from their value as a research subject. we already have too many people; they do not deserve a place among the living or the free.

If it's possible, I don't see the harm in trying.

because it's an extreme waste of medical and legal resources on a person who has already inflicted tremendous damage on a large number of families and communities, and because these people are usually psychopathic misanthropes that can literally never be trusted, no matter what kind of treatment they go through.

It's still better to waste resources on trying to get them fixed and doing what prison is supposed to be doing in the first damn place instead of wasting it on throwing them in a madhouse and not giving a shit about what happens next. And obviously they wouldn't be able to go anywhere unsupervised by someone who are capable of dealing with them if things ever get out of hand.
It's still better to waste resources on trying to get them fixed
why? so we can have 320,000,001 precious Americans instead of 320,000,000?
I cannot think of anyone who would deserve or require permanent quiet imprisonment more than someone who is willing to destroy multiple lives for a petty emotional agenda. There is no purpose (other than patting ourselves on the back about how jesus-like we are) in trying to bend these people back into shape; they will never contribute meaningfully to society in a way that outweighs their crimes.
