You'd be surprised how few people know who these "icons" are. I'd consider myself a feminist and probably would be hard pressed to name one if you asked. You can be a feminist (and you should be) without acknowledging any bad eggs, no matter how "celebrated" they are.
Well that depends on what you define feminism as. "Women should be treated as equals" doesn't seem to fit quite a sizable chunk of feminists. Whether it be the demand for preferential treatment or straight up hatred of men. With Hilary Clinton we're really seeing alot of female supremacists come out of the woodwork.
I'm fine with the dating system itself but from what I can tell it purely exist to secularize a dating system by getting rid of any religious relations, on top of that I keep mixing up C.E. and B.C.E. when I give it a quick glance since it's one letter apart. At least it's just renaming the B.C. A.D. system and not like that French ten day week thing
Why care? It's an arbitrary point that like it or not has some significance in human history.

First off, what do you think the overarching goal of feminism is? Seriously, I would really like to know, because I have yet to meet someone who does not think it is about equal treatment, and I work for/help run a feminist organization. On your second topic, I have yet to meet a feminist who supports Hillary. Most, if not all, of the ones I am in contact with, or even just see, have Bernie pins/shirts/talk about Sanders constantly, whilst denouncing Hilary at the same time. The only "feminists like Clinton because she is a women" propaganda I have ever seen has come from your posts. Even people wearing pins that say shit like "kill all men" have Sanders 2016 pins next to them.

there's been arguments here before about that black scientist dude and comedian-politics or whatever and how on FP people seem to dislike them because they state the obvious or they're just trying to be "hip" with younger generations or whatever other silly things have been said everyone that seems to mention that also happens to go around discussion threads acting like a pseudo-knowitalls always trying to be on the right side of the topic and there's rarely ever been a breakthrough in an argument on this forum because of it a lot of people here seem to be and do the very things they dislike, lacking awareness of it i just find that funny

Second wave was super excluding. Anyone who wasn't a cis white straight women was shunned. At least third wave movements for the most part are trans inclusionary and ally inclusive, aka how I am allowed to help run organizations.

progressives' absolute faith in their own righteousness is fucking terrifying if the message you get out of history is "fascists are bad" and not "people who have absolute faith in their own ideology are capable of justifying literally anything in the name of the common good" then congratulations on missing the point you dense motherfucker skepticism is the only way to inoculate yourself against extremism and anyone who argues that you give it up is not to be trusted
why? isn't she a dumb cunt?
I've never watched any of her videos so idk if her beliefs are stupid or not, but from what I understand she got a kickstarted for like $150k to critique male tropes in videogames, and she didn't release any videos until like a year later, when she stole other peopls' footage and put out less videos than jontron now, I personally respect that, because she's hustling and I envy someone who just talks shit and gets paid $150k for it. I don't, however, respect stealing other peoples' footage.
More people were killed in the 20th century in the name of "the people" than in the entirety of human history in the name of god.
Unwavering faith in your own absolute moral good will inevitably lead to violence as other people refuse to model themselves after you. Religion, nationality, ideology, many excuses, but the same logic. The logic is what should be shunned, the logic is what leads to injustice.
Still waiting for you to deconstruct second and third wave feminism for me, Rangergxi; I'm genuinely interested in what you think of as feminism
Second wave feminism took a one sided view on gender issues. This one sided view on gender lead to female supremacy, transphobia in the form of womyn pure womyn and straight up man hating. Andrea Dworkin, Valerie Solanas and Amanda Greer best represent this feminist movement. Third wave feminism also took a one sided view on gender but instead of falling onto female supremacy (still around but thinly veiled) they took on the idea that we should grant women special treatment and privileges to right the wrongs of the past. Although many of them don't hate men they'll gladly ignore issues that affect men such high suicide rates, work deaths, homelessness, family court issues, draft and a mountain of other issues to focus on women. Both of these types of feminists coexist today and mix up making things extremely confusing but we basically have contradictions everywhere and a complete disregard for mens issues. We see Feminists shout "Free the nipple" while marching barechested who then go on to demand that a game with a lewd avatar be censored. We see Feminists demand equal treatment while actually meaning special treatment, etc. I think the best personifications of third wave feminism are Professor Judy Haven and Brianna Wu. The widely celebrated and praised Anita also makes a good representation. https://youtu.be/im25MN5AwIc?t=23m8s http://41.media.tumblr.com/9be8fd8c1ba80d76fb5a586325a2d6c1/tumblr_nqg1yvZMCE1uzol1io1_1280.jpg I've noticed that womens studies is largely unscientific while researching the wage gap. They take statistics and immediately focus on how to interpret them in a way that makes women look disadvantaged while discarding any unnecessary details that might contradict their narrative. They're also really happy to threaten and silence people such as Christina Hoff Sommers, Ayaane Hirrsi Ali and Erin Pizzey who go against their narrative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jjVvR36Ueg definitely summarises it best.
I like yung lean's music.

A lot of the women who march topless don't care if women are sexualized in media, and the ones who cry out for equality definitely don't mean they want one sex to be powered over the other.
Gamers have devalued games.
I disagree. Shovelware has always been there. But recently I've seen this attitude of "wow, $20 dollars? I'd get it if it was five" "Wow they're focusing on mp wtf not $60!!!!" (I've seen this with R6 Siege, when everything else seems to indicate that its more than worth it at that price since its fun, and provided plenty of launch content, and is continuing to provide free content) Like yes, there are legitimate cases where a game is probably not worth the asking price (a lot of Paradox's "expansions" for EUIV and CKII spring to mind for me). But this goes beyond that. This is thinking unless its sub 40 dollars (in the case of AAA), or sub 20 dollars (in the case of everything esle) it isn't worth it at all. Not to say I'm not guilty of that, because I am, but on the whole I'm certain all the bundles and sales have devalued games to consumers, all while costs of making games continues to rise and as game prices as a whole have remained steady. Back in 2006 I bought LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It was priced at 49.99 which was standard price for PS2 games. In today's money, that's equal to about $58.75. 40 GBP in 2006 is worth about 53.36 GBP today. If I'm doing the math right, in September 2006 (Lego Star Wars II's release date), 40 GBP would be worth about $75.20. In today's USD, that $75.20 would be about $88.37. 50 GBP today is worth just shy of 70 bucks. 40 GBP today is worth about $55. Now, the fact that the UK is charged more for games is BS, but that's a different issue. As you can see, games prices have pretty much remained stable with inflation over past decade, decade and a half or so. Yet the cost of making them is going up and people want to keep paying less and less for games. I use the 40GBP and the 50GBP markers as from what I've read, games used to cost about 40GBP in the UK, and have gone up in recent times to 50GBP. That's the companies keeping up with inflation, and while I think it would be best if the overall cost in the UK was lowered to what it is in the US, you can not deny that games costs have actually stayed relatively stable. So I really do make the argument that gamers have in effect, by buying games en masse cheaply in bundles and sales, are reluctant to pay much higher than those sale/bundle prices for games. If you continuously buy something at a lower price, you'll be reluctant as hell to buy something at a higher price. I'd even go as far as saying that its a factor in the rise of microtransactions and DLC, as production costs have gone up, game prices have remained steady - but gamers want to pay less - so companies need a way to make their money back and they'll try by nickel and diming. its not gamers fault that nearly every developer/publisher regularly slashes the prices of their products. if you want your audience to genuinely think your product is worth more, it helps that you actually reinforce that idea by selling it at that price. you dont get to put your product on sale every few months and then wonder why nobody is buying your game at full price. talk about shooting yourself in the foot. oops!
I like yung lean's music.
Hell yeah, it's totally discounted as just meme music but it's fantastically produced and yung lean is a perfect complement to the production. His mindless, monotone flow makes him take less precedence over the beat and makes him just another instrument in the symphony. It's honestly genius.
Gamers have devalued games.
To be fair some of them are worse now. I mean I'm never paying full price for a total war game right now because it doesn't feel like the game is even worth the price.
I think the vast majority of videogames are uninteresting. In my entire life I have only liked: Beyond good and evil Ocarina of time Super Mario bros 3 Everything else us a good time waster, but not really all that good of a game
