I am but the fact that it is $79.99 is killing my mood,.
Unpopular Opinions Thread.
I don't think anyone will argue that India doesn't suck.
a billion indians would probably argue about it
Some of these are worse than others of course but the point is that a lot of people on facepunch straight up do not respect transpeople
And the argument goes on for 11 pages which I personally shouldn't have to be an argument in the first place but still as long as your posts aren't like the ones above and you at least try to be respectful instead of devolving into "I'm identify as an attack helicopter!!!" memes or outright deny transgenderism is real then I just disagree.
But on the actual point, a lot of the people in there do use "Special snowflake status" as a "legitimate" arguing point, which is in the same essence as "darn SJWs"
"DoCH quotes"

Thank you splenda for taking the time to articulate and explain your points. I respect your debate style!
I don't think all of these posts (or more specifically using such an attack helicopter example) are per se meant to be disrespectful for trans people. It could very well be that they simply fear that future legalese will not make the distinction between real trans people and people claiming to be trans and at what point you become officially real trans.
I ain't a lawyer but I know for a fact that translating such a bill to legalese would be a nightmare.
(Disclaimer I don't think trans is some LIEBERALUS LIES)

That thread really did make a fantastic example of why ratings should come back - a dozen pages of addressing things that were already addressed in transgender threads from the past could have been avoided if people were allowed to rate dumb/funny and move on.
All the ratings removal did was take away the disincentive to post bullshit things that everyone and their grandmother posted in the past.

au contrare
ratings encourage groupthink by conditioning people to feel a certain way about posts before they read them
internet rating systems are poisoning the well of free thought; reddit is the worst example, but they are harmful everywhere.

I won't deny that this could be the case. However, it seems clear that threads about transgenderism from the past had much deeper and more thoughtful discussion when people didn't feel so free to unironically use the "I identify as an attack helicopter" argument.
If 100 dumb ratings on a post encourage people to think of that post more critically, that might not necessarily be a bad thing. It can either keep people from wanting to post that way, or it can spark discussion of why the post was rated dumb in the first place - I don't see that in a negative light.
The last part of the post is simply rhetoric though.

I think the main problem is people look for a definitive answer to gender, and in doing so they usually look at 4 distinct categories: chromosomes, gonads, hormones, and general morphology. While on paper these categories seem fine, for example in common culture a male is defined as having an xy chromosome, testicles, testosterone, and a penis, in reality there is grey area in all of these. There is a certain deficiency (I can't remember the name of it right now and I'm on my phone so it's kind of hard to do research, sorry!) that causes people with xy chromosomes to develop overies, have estrogen, and have a vagina, yet chromosomally they fit into the definition of a man. There are also cases for all of the proceeding categories I listed, like how female testosterone levels can reach that of males during menstruation, not even mentioning how some women can be naturally born with high T levels. When you really look into it, there is no clear way to define gender, at least biologically on these terms, even though common knowledge would instantly point to these differences between the two genders. With this in mind, gender becomes more of a psychological problem than a biological problem, so if someone's brain identifies themselves as a women, then my unpopular opinion is that this self identification is all that is needed as proof. For the record I don't even like the notion of gender, I just see it as a tool to marginalize those who do not fit into the strict cis binary, but that's an unpopular opinion for another time!
I'm not trying to call you out specifically I just saw that you quoted my post and thought I should chime into the discussion seeing how I have some of the more "progressive" views on gender issues on this forum.

also sorry if parts of that post don't really make sense I cut my foot really badly while in the middle of writing it so my mind kind of went all over the place and probably didn't mention everything I really wanted to.
They don't. The term was created to mock them.
While the latter is true, the former is not. The term has largely been co-opted and I've seen many people refer to themselves unironically as a social justice warrior or SJW, sometimes with a hint of pride. The term is much less of a pejorative as it once was.

Yea the two main camps I've seen are people who embrace the word, or people who just don't give a shit. A lot of my friends who are a hell of a lot more social justice-y than I am just don't really care if they are called an SJW, because its seen as a recognition of their status of trying to stick up for social justice. IMO there is much more to be worried about in life than if someone on the internet ironically calls me a "social justice warrior." I would never use the term myself because I don't like labels, I don't even call myself a feminist even though I'm like kind of deeply engrained in it now, fuck I don't even call myself a man, but there are definitely people who see the word as uplifting because even their so-called "enemies" are recognizing that they fight for social justice in the world.
I've personally never seen anyone call themselves an SJW in a way that came across as unironic to me before. It always seemed like it was done in a way to mock people who use the term in the first place.
I'm losing interest in games. Not because I don't like them, but because my expectations have just dropped so low.
With all this pre-order bonus/DLC/microtransactions/day one patch/season pass/cosmetics/in game currency/trading system/free to play crap that is found in so many games I find it hard to get excited for a game nowadays. The last game I was really hyped for was Borderlands, and that was forever ago.

Well the point of my post was sort of that one can see all of the above as the truth and still believe that bathrooms should remain segregated + some neutrals added.
Some measures have to be taken to account for bad faith actors and grey areas. Implementing those measures seems like a damned nightmare to me. I look forward to your post about how self identification should be (legally) enough as that seems like something I will probably disagree with.
Personally this seems like an issue where life is unfair but the cost vs reward ratio of implementing new measures to completely "fix" the problem just aren't good enough returns to make that change. Minorities will always face some troubles in life and we can only attempt to bend the harsh realities of life so much. I think this is an area of life where sadly we simply have to live with it.

Chances are if you are young you are simply just getting older and thus getting immunized to hype. Even without all the BS I still wouldn't be able to hype up for games no more (although I never was one for hype trains).

I've always imagined that the social stigma attached to pretending to be a girl to look at some boobs in a dressing room would be too detrimental for anyone to actually go through with. Like the only way I can really think to solve this in a more constructive way than my knee-jerk "if we tell kids that there is nothing mystical or different about the other sex's bodies" is to have a single changing room/whatever and just have individual stalls per person. Like I know this would never happen either because of the costs associated but it's the only more reasonable way I can think of that leaves true transgendered individual's dignity in tact without opening up the opportunity for perverts to get a quick peak of other's private parts.
I know, as a personal anecdote, that my university exclusively has gender neutral bathrooms and showers in both the dorms and the campus, and I cannot recall ever hearing of a case of people perving on eachother, like I'm sure it's happened but it's not common.
Again this is kind of beating around the bush of a much larger post about my own theories of gender but I don't really want to type out some large thing on my phone so I'm just hitting basic points right now.

I don't think you've taken part in many transgender articles on FP if you think ratings would prevent that. 99% of all transgender news articles end up consisting of shitflinging and people constantly reiterating the same points because no one actually bothers reading the thread and jumps in to post their uninformed opinions that have already been debunked multiple times. And every time the threads finally die down and become more civilized inevitably some uninformed moron or troll comes back in every single time spouting the same exact uninformed opinions that have been explained multiple times in that exact same thread, let alone past threads.

It's pretty much like that on all gender theory threads, probably other topics too but those are the only ones I consistently participated in. I'm currently taking a break from posting in those threads indefinitely because I got tired of saying the same thing over and over and then have the same people say the same thing back to me over and over again. Like once the first few on topic posts happen every one of the threads all become mirror images of eachother.

Social stigma hasn't stopped pervs in the past from doing far wackier things. Chances are some people might actually find the added effort exciting in and of itself.
University is one of many settings. High-schools will be less mature about the sensibilities of gender. and respect.
TBH though the perv argument is bad because its used as a counter argument for helping people that are statistical anomalies by saying a ludicrously small portion of pervs exist.
Don't worry about the mobile thing I can wait time is the only thing I have plenty of.
Pacific Rim was really shit
to clarify watching huge robots fight monsters was sweet but everything that was not that was atrocious garbage

The movie was from the get go planned to be very reminiscent of old school budget movies and anime cliche.
yeah but ironic shitposting is still shitposting
It's really not the same as that.
I think Overwatch is going to be super popular and everybody goes nuts over it.
For 2 months.
Then everybody forgets about the game really quickly. It doesn't die but won't really have a huge playerbase. Nobody can explain why they're not playing anymore.
Reason: More flair than substance.
Yes, I'm not hyped for FO4 because I won't be able to run it. Maybe after 4 - 5 years I will be able to try it out, but then there will be no such hype anymore.
Looking at the latest leaked videos, it looks barely better than FO3 graphically.
If it ran much worse it would be disgusting.
Since we're on the subject, "bad graphics" is a legitimate complaint when it comes to a game. It shouldn't turn a good game into a bad one (like Undertale, a great game with terrible graphics), but people shouldn't be yelled at or called stupid for complaining about graphics. Visuals are an important part of the medium.
It's not that hard to have pretty aesthetics with just about any level of graphical fidelity, but another thing entirely is when the artists just suck and can't use their tech properly.
Half Life 2 for instance is far from technically impressive these days, but the game is perfectly fine to look at still, even if we omit the improvements they made over the years. It's just consistent and well-realized, nothing really stands out as overwhelmingly better or worse than anything else.
Fallout has serious problems with inconsistency. It's just all over the place, high textures here, low there, guns have more polygons than people etc. It's just an ugly mess.
(like Undertale, a great game with terrible graphics)
Pixel art ≠ terrible graphics
I fucking hate Telltale Games, for what they are they're incredibly poor. I'd have more fun playing with the scene selection on a DVD
Toes are disgusting body parts.
One Punch Man is the best.
Halo is a good series and all the people bitching about how 343 is ruining the series are a bunch of whiney cunts.
Play a different game
