it has great writing and memorable characters and scenes, but people that defend its mechanics and graphics make me laugh.
Can't say I had any issues whatsoever with its mechanics.
Graphics certainly aren't AAA or great by indie standards however I never got pulled out of the games immersion due to the graphics.
Exactly. It should have only ever gotten as popular as Off.
Started playing Off just now. Within the first 10 minutes it already became obvious to me that your statement is absurd.
This game simply doesn't seem to have the heart warming mainstream appeal that undertale has. Their somewhat in the same genre but I can already tell that they are two very different games. Obviously the current climate is much more favorable for a game to go viral but if Undertale had been released at the same time as Off I have a feeling that Undertale would still end up being more popular.
A circle jerk is a sexual practice in which a group of men or boys form a circle and masturbate themselves or each other. In the metaphorical sense, the term is used to refer to self-congratulatory behavior or discussion amongst a group of people, usually in reference to a "boring or time-wasting meeting or other event".
e.g. - WAYT, STGYM, CIPWTTKT, GMF, OIFY
What I don't understand is where the negative connotations came from. Latent homophobia maybe?

More probably based on the not entirely uncommon connotation that masturbation is incredibly unproductive and mindless.

Visualization during auto erotic simulation is not mindless.
For to be truly mindless, my mind has to blank.
That occurs after orgasm.

...what? no. that's fucking stupid.
"masturbatory" is a metaphorical prefix for any behavior which is self-indulgent. if you've got an isolated community of people all patting themselves on the back (that's another metaphor, watch out) and laughing at their own contrived in-jokes, that is somewhat similar to a closed formation of people all giving each other gentle tugjobs.

More in the sense of lacking intellectual profoundness but I get your point.
While we're talking about the Undertale circlejerk, that's one buzzword I never understood, "circlejerk".
Like, people use it whenever there's a few people praising something in a thread somewhere. It just seems like a throwaway insult in the place of "stop liking things I don't like".
I feel like "Circlejerk" is used more often to criticize something without having a valid criticism. It's also kinda obtuse to call something a "circlejerk" when interest is purely subjective, as if to say "if you don't dislike thing that I dislike, then you're just part of a circlejerk!"
Yes, there are obnoxious people that shove shit in your face but just let it rest at "that guy is obnoxious" and let people enjoy what they like.

i'm guessing my joke fell flat.

i'm sorry
Country is the worst genre of music.
why does everyone hate country? ive seen tweets about it and tumblr posts about it but those sites are allllll about retarded fads
why does everyone hate country? ive seen tweets about it and tumblr posts about it but those sites are allllll about retarded fads
They think of country and think of modern only in it for the monay generic pop bullcrap. That video that got posted in this thread that compared country songs is a pretty good demonstration of the above problem.
Not looking at the good shit that has been released in the past.
The good country being made now will slowly float to the top eventually. Just takes a while for the good shit to get recognized.
chuck testa is the best meme of all time
I don't necessarily mind it but Undertale seems to have the same kind of humor that Homestuck has, which is probably a big influence on why it's so damned popular.
I've watched a Let's Play on about all of the unique routes, and I thought it was alright, definitely neat from mechanics standpoint. Liked the characters, music is great. Story wasn't bad, but I can't say I feel terribly compelled to play it, kinda watched an LP because I was more curious than anything.
I may play it for a friend soon to see what the fuss is all about, I have a lot of respect for Toby Fox tho.
Drake's Hotline Bling is full of crybaby lyrics, even if it is really catchy.
What even is the meaning of "hipster", every time that word is used its to relegate someone's negative comment about a certain topic that the user of the word approves of and I really don't understand how that works, it seems... childish? A little insecurity that someone doesn't enjoy something as much? People have different opinions on the game so why does someone having an opposite opinion of you brings up some online slang to attempt an insult at them?
The term Hipster originally came to be in reference to members of the Beatnik movement in the 50s, who eschewed traditional social norms and culture for thier own, less socially conservstive ine (one of the first true Counter-Cultures in the US, they laid the groundwork for later groups such as the Hippies). By the late 60s it was used to denote members of the various counter cultures of that era, and now it tends to be an insult about those who are into things before they were popular and just act pretentious about what they're into.
Hmm.. where should I start?
Fallout 4 is way too much hyped. Life is Strange is a game that is on a teenage-level, which sucks imo. Assassin's Creed sucks balls since the first game.
EDIT: Telltale's games are boring as hell.
Life is Strange is okay but the "hip lingo" the characters use completely ruins it, it's just so fucking ridiculous how dumb the way the characters talk is.

Also Chloe is awful and her stepdad did nothing wrong.
iirc young people in the northwest part of the US are said to actually talk like that
its still cringy
Why are we even trying to save pandas?
They're too lazy to breed or eat something that has actual nutritional value.
Because conservation isn't about only saving things that are of use to us. Just because we don't have immediate use for them, doesn't mean we should just kill them all. Pandas are somewhat important to the local ecosystem, and have largely become endangered due to massive deforestation.
The whole 'too lazy to breed' thing is bullshit because almost every fucking captive species is unable to breed in captivity - those that can are the exception, not the rule. And it doesn't matter that they eat nothing of little nutritional value because they're absolutely fucking fine at it. Pandas were ridiculously abundant in China before the advent of agriculture, and a lot more abundant than they are now before bamboo became something that had to be cleared in mass amounts. Any lack of success on their part is based solely on human activity, and not the fitness of pandas in their environment.
Even if they weren't fit for their environment, why is it that we suddenly have to be the people who start judging when a species has to be removed because we don't deem it fit enough? Why not let ACTUAL nature decide instead of us?
The whole argument that conservation of pandas is dumb is incredibly flawed and based on a shit understanding of both ecology and natural selection, and is propagated by ignorant people who aren't even in the field who think their incredibly basic understanding of these principles outweighs the sum total of the professionals in the field of ecology.
Political Correctness is fucking cancer and it needs to go away for good.

Letting actual nature decide would mean letting them die off.

When do we draw the line of "real nature" anyways, is a question I've always had in mind
While Panic! At The Disco's newest stuff pales in comparison to their first two albums, I have to give props to Brendon Urie for keeping up a one man act for one, soon to be two albums.
Even though their music has become pretty similar to Fall Out Boy, it's still better than a lot of the pop I hear on the radio. That and he at least seems like a decent guy.
