Unpopular Opinions V5: "I still don't like Half Life 2."

Like shit. People go and see comedians and pay them for jokes. How is that any different from someone online playing a game and telling jokes (basically for free, but with a tip jar and ticket pay)?
I can understand people making a living off of professional, high quality videos but I mean people that do commentaries, game reviews, etc.
it's entertainment just like any other
and there's nothing stopping people from making high quality commentaries and reviews either
[editline]5th January 2016[/editline]
if you're saying it's stupid to commit full time to a new and risky market i understand
if you're saying it's not a job because 'what kind of a job is making internet videos anyway' then i disagree
Jimqusition is kind of the polar opposite in that the meat of what he does is fresh but his persona was never likeable which I won't ever endure again now that I know he's not above using his fans as his personal harassment army.
Jim's personality is the most useless thing ever. It adds nothing to his reviews, his videos, or his arguments.
On that point. If you use an emotional gimmick in your persona nowadays (angry, happy, depressed), you have zero creativity. The only one who gets away with it is AVGN.
I've never understood the bizarre mentality that when it comes to the US and foreign affairs. People whine and moan when the US tries to influence anything that happens internally with another nation, but when Japan decides to have their own military and not rely entirely on the US, people think that it's 1937 all over again.
TBH I think Jim does that crap to pad the lengths of his videos
Is that why Angry Joe does the worst skits in history?
TBH I think Jim does that crap to pad the lengths of his videos
I don't really think Jim needs to do that. Doesn't he make like 150k a year on patreon?
I don't know if this is unpopular, but I think conscription is always wrong. I'm going to spend 70-80 non-repeatable years on the planet, after which I cease to exist. The state doesn't get to tell me when and where I put my life on the line, certainly not under threat of imprisonment.
I fully appreciate the sacrifices made by people in the armed forces, but it's very important to me that it remains a voluntary service.

Your definition of a job is quite strange. Isn't it just the way you make money.
Shouldn't really matter if you're with a studio or self-employed.
This isn't new, I'm not the first to say it and I don't expect to be the last.
I don't like Undertale.
That sentence alone will make people go fucking ballistic and that was one of my problems. The community. I expect people to jump in and say "NOT ALL FANS ARE LIKE THAT!!!" as if I'm brain-dead and think a small majority represents the entire community. But in terms of negativity, I think Undetale has one of the worst communities. Yeah there may be a 98% cool accepting community with 2% dickheads but that 2% is worse to me than the (random number, not my opinion) 10% of the FNAF community. Why? Yeah there are people who claim FNAF is the best series in the world but that applies to most series and while there are a few rude fans who DO NOT LIKE DIFFERENT OPINIONS, the worst thing I see is usually the forced integration. "You know what this game needs? FNAF MODELS!". But for Undertale the negative side of the community, however small the negative side is, is much worse. There's nearly just as much forced integration as FNAF but with surprisingly ruder fans, some of whom can be violent. I won't say "undertale fans use death threats!!!" because I see that a lot. It's just the anger I see when people don't like Undertale. OPINIONS? The worst part about this is the excuses. "Oh, you didn't like it? You obviously didn't engage with the characters enough." or "Oh, that's only because all the jokes went over your head!"
Perhaps I just don't like the game. And I'll talk about that because I am not a fan of disliking a game due to its community. The characters. I'll admit it, I liked Sans. He was funny at times but the rest of the characters were just "meh" to me. Papyrus came across as just annoying and the whole [sp] date thing [/sp] didn't make me laugh, it made me dislike the character even more. Undyne is not my new waifu, I'm sorry. [sp]Anger issues is not a cute character trait [/sp].
The whole [sp]Pacifist / Neutral / w.e else [/sp] didn't appeal to me. Having different endings and scenarios due to your actions is nice. I do like that in games but for me, it isn't like that in Undertale. It isn't a case [sp]of "well you acted peaceful here and here but acted aggressively at this important point so the character dislikes you more", it becomes "eh don't kill anyone."[/sp]
I don't like the combat. Yeah, it's unique and I did raise an eyebrow at the [sp]twist about the meaning of LOVE [/sp] but spending 5 minutes [sp]pressing the same button / command over and over whilst dodging really weird attacks between said button spam[/sp], is not fun to me.
"BUT IT'S SO SAD!!! YOU'RE SO EMOTIONLESS IF YOU DIDN'T TEAR UP!!!"
No. That's an opinion. The ending I had did not make me cry. It make me cringe because it seemed so over the top.
Oh and one last thing.
[sp]Fighting Flowey as the weird monster thing with bombs and who knows what else was not fun and neither was it a unique idea. It was trippy, bizarre, confusing and as well as probably being stressful for players not so brilliant at the game, it made me lose any positive feelings I had. It can't even be described as quirky, it was just stupid. [/sp]
i don't think Poland Ball (?) comics are funny 90% of the time

Yeah sorry but this is wrong.
The game is extremely dynamic when it comes to the dialogue and the endings, and there's a different ending for each of the main characters being dead or alive. Some characters do dislike you more when you act in a specific way [sp] Sans hating you for killing Papyrus for example[/sp]. Admittedly the gameplay doesn't really change (except for genocide), but the game isn't that long in the first place, and it'd be quite overkill to expect that as well.
"Oh it's just because they grew up in different times" is a terrible excuse
Actually, as people do get older their capacity for changing their views actually goes down. Your brain is hardwired that way.

[sp]Nothing says dynamic like a person not being your bestie after killing their brother. [/sp]
At least thats why my psych professor told us

I hope I don't be like that some day. I want to be supportive of whatever social changes come in the 2060's and not just be an old cook who prefers the good ol' days when robots were not legally sentient.
It's not 100% garunteed, but in general, at least according to her, that's what happens.
People get used to things and then they are afraid of change.
Most simple.
Absolutely hate Trouble in Terrorist Town.
Saying nigga or nigger is fine, context is what makes using the word is good or bad
Saying nigga or nigger is fine, context is what makes using the word is good or bad
I was discussing the nature of offensive words with a tumblry white girl a couple years ago and I said nigger and she told me that word offends her, I told her it's context and she said that whites have no right to use that word no matter the context. It was a message between me and her, no one else would have ever seen it.
Absolutely hate Trouble in Terrorist Town.
I feel like it would be ok if it wasn't on garry's mod (because it runs at like 30 fps on most maps lol).
Absolutely hate Trouble in Terrorist Town.
I'd play zombie survival but it hasn't been good in like 7 years
Absolutely hate Trouble in Terrorist Town.
The first time I played it, I uninstalled gmod and avoided it for months. That's how frustrating it was at first. It really takes some getting used to, but I can easily understand why you'd hate it.
We should be calling the armed militia in Oregon terrorists.
Definitely, they're also ruining the term "militia". Militia aren't supposed to be anti-government, they're supposed to anti-government reform.

Reform of the huge-reorganization-of-everything or breaking-fundamental-rules variety.
Steakhouse salmon > Steakhouse steak
Steakhouse salmon > Steakhouse steak
what if you don't like seafood
what if you don't like seafood
then
Steakhouse steak > Steakhouse salmon
Absolutely hate Trouble in Terrorist Town.
Why? The community? I enjoyed it quite a bit when it was first being made for that contest, but nowadays it's hard to find a tolerable server.
Also fish is just disgusting imo. I absolutely hate the texture of fish, not necessarily the taste, I can't even quite understand why. Though I dunno, there might be a fish out there that doesn't have the same texture that other fish like salmon does.
already sick and tired of the "what a great start to 2016" jokes on every thread
