Make a sequel to Custer's Revenge.
Oh god damnit people, i just asked for a simple idea, not "AN AWESOME STORY I'M GOING TO STEAL FROM YOU AND SELL AND MONEY AND SHIT!". And no, i'm not going to sell the game, and i did never tell i am going to do so. The main idea was space related ship battles. But no the standard ones, i'm planing something special, i just need more details. I think it's almost always wrong to ask a community for something, they get it wrong and start flaming.
if you can't come up with a simple idea, even as a programer, you're in trouble
if you can't come up with a simple idea, even as a programer, you're in trouble
No, i came up with an idea, but i want the community to post their ideas too! Because it would be shit if i made a game that nobody wants to play. Get it?
Btw the game will be free.

I meant good original worth buying idea. Mario = no. Btw person with a good idea gets a free copy of the game.

No, i came up with an idea, but i want the community to post their ideas too! Because it would be shit if i made a game that nobody wants to play. Get it?
Game design is delicate. Just because something sounds good the first time you hear it, doesn't mean it will translate well when you write it down on paper. You wanted a space ship game? Ok, experiment with dynamics, construction, and the like. Is it two single ships facing each other in battle? Does the player have control over central ship systems? Can you send out dogfighters? Do you need to shuffle mechanics around to repair shit? Also how do you define "something special" when it comes to ship battles? From the outside, ship battles look boring generally, at least without sound (as it should be). You're seeing two things blasting until one eventually explodes. What's it like for the crew on the inside? Who is the player playing as? Coming up with ideas isn't hard, just ask some general questions about how you feel the game should be built. If you have a good idea, go with that instead of asking us. If it is legitimately good the game will be good. Just because people here say "i like this" doesn't mean they don't like yours.
If you quote, then quote it fully.
I meant good original worth buying idea. Mario = no. Btw person with a good idea gets a free copy of the game. (Just like everyone else, but the good idea guy gets it first)
idea: you have to rescue a certain character, trough the game you recieve help from that character, and it/him/her talks about how evil the antagonist is. In the end, you discover that the character you rescued was an ancient evil, captured by the "antagonist", and that you killed thousands of innocent soldiers as a mistake. The "ancient evil" gives you a choice, join it/him/her, or die. If you join, it will go to ending 1 (described later). If you fight, it will branch into three endings (2, 3 and 4), and in a special condition, you get to the true boss fight, with endings 5 and 6. ending 1: you join the evil, and rule the universe as man and thing/father and son/husband and wife. ending 2: you kill the evil, but you are traumatized by your acts, so you commit suicide. ending 3: you make a heroic sacrifice to destroy the ancient evil once and for all. ending 4: you kill the ancient evil, and live to tell the tale. But you run to a far far away galaxy/kingdom/etc. true boss fight: the prime evil "dies", and while you are celebrating it shows its true form, you fight it, and the end depends if you win or lose. if you win: ending 5: you save the galaxy, but no one knows about you. You become a wanderer, in search of a stronger enemy. if you lose: ending 6: like in the tale of the ugly barnacle: EVERYONE DIES. THE END.
Make something like Earthworm jim, if you can do something like the game's humor well enough, the idea doesn't really require much more. (Well, except a damn lot of creativity)
okay, that story with multiple endings is awesome. here's my gameplay: you play as a ship, you start with a trash ship and you have to either complete missions to get cash, mine asteroids to get minerals to sell/use them or fight the enemies/other players to salvage/steal their stuff. you can use the resources to create your own stuff/trade them. there will be also a ship editor and ship cpu editor. in ship editor you can build your ship in any way you want (in a grid 5x5 pixels), in cpu editor you can program your ship in lua to automatically do stuff/change frequency of weapons or shields/change the shape of the shield using f(x) function. it is multiplayer only, singleplayer will come later. note: cpu comes preprogrammed

Just saying. The Sims 3 had corgi DLC, and I think it's one of the best selling games of all time.
ummm... okay. your ship pet that gives you tips will be a corgi.
ummm... okay. your ship pet that gives you tips will be a corgi.
And you play as him in the bonus levels. And if you clear all bonus levels, you unlock a bonus story mode (far shorter tho), where you play as the pet corgi.
Mkay the Good guy wakes up to find himself alone in space. From what he last remembers is that he had an entire fleet with him. He tries to contact someone on a near by planet but can't contact anyone. He looks at his ships starmap to discover that there is no data for this region of space he is in. All of a sudden his ship gets hit by some sort of weapon and ( i guess this can be the tutorial) he has to fight back. as he is trying to figure out where he is by going to different parts of the space region and collecting clues from non hostile ships or people or whatever you decide he meets friendly aliens/people who want to help him get back home and as he goes around more he gets more friends and starts to get his own little fleet of ships. when he finally gets back home he discovers that his homeworld has been overrun by aliens. There is still a large part of the human population alive and they are putting up a pretty good fight against the aliens. Despite their efforts they are still losing. The general of the humans army puts you and your little fleet of ships up to the task of destroying the enemies main fleet. He lends you part of the army and you go through more of the game to be victorious in destroying the enemies main fleet. Now... the game can either end there or it can go on in some sort of sequel or you can add it into the game and not make a sequel or just end the game there alltogether in some sort of he lived happily ever after thing but if you want it to continue then keep reading...... The "main fleet" that you just destroyed is not the main fleet at all and is actually just a small part of the alien army. You discover that the human armada is in no way big enough to take on the entire army so you need to go the various friendly alien homeworlds and enlist there help lest the entire universe gets taken over by the enemy aliens...... Im running out of ideas here so you can think of filler content im just going to skip to the end..... Using your massive fleet of humans and various friendly alien armadas you discover the enemy aliens homeworld and destroy it in an epic battle. and there is my idea for a 2d space game.
Can I be da idea guy?
