we used to go on some website called something like yetigames.org in the school ICT club in year 1 (about age 5-6) We had a computer at home, but I just used to use it for paint, I spent hours designing cities and countries and junk.
I've been on the Internet for a long time, but the Blockland forums was the first actual community I joined. I got even deeper into gaming because of this, and I ended up on YouTube, Steam and eventually Facepunch. Thanks, Blockland.
I was 13 and wanted to talk about Grand Theft Auto.
The LEGO and Cartoon Network websites pulled me in, and the rest is history.
I wanted porn and didn't feel like paying for it. That, or game guides/cheats.
I sat down at the computer and clicked internet explorer
It was the mid 90's, when IRC was an open field of warez and the WWW was a cornucopia of porn. I had a steady job and a dysfunctional relationship so of course I spent my time online. I wouldn't say I'm a member though, as I haven't really contributed to the internet. Just a few footprints here and there, while watching advertisements and commercial interests fill it's holes like a bad porno. - It's pretty much the same now. Flash ads have replaced gifs and the blink tag, and warez and porn still abound. MP3's still feel new and novel to me. I just don't care anymore.
Oh, you think the internet is your ally. But you merely adopted the internet; I was born in it, moulded by it.
Farcry 1 came out and I liked the idea of creating your own levels, daddy showed me the internet and voilah I found tutorials and manuals for Cryengine Sandbox.

http://www.thomasandfriends.com/en-au/Games/PaintanEngineEasy Waiting to play this with a 56k was the most excruciating wait ever. Playing Neopets in 2004.
My brother told me about this game where real people could kill eachother. I was so scared of that... yet... so curious. So I played decided to sate my curiosity and I found myself playing Runescape. Those "real" people killing eachother were players killing npcs:v:
My friend got me into C&C Renegade. Runescape shortly after that too. It's hard to believe I've been on this forum for 9 years.
Something called Boombang. It's some kinda kids online chat/game.
I was in the boy scouts and they were teaching all the kids how to use google. Back then I was like 'when the hell would I ever use this shit'
Playing Neopets in 2004.
Same, only I started in 2001. It's a shame they sold out
I found my old computer, where I installed my first pc game, something about teletubbies, at 4 years of age, on windows 98. Meanwhile my highschool class still asks me "so whats a resolution?" I think steam by far got me involved in the internet community
When I was 5 or 6 I got my first Pokemon card deck (the water/fighting one) and some stuff came with it, along with a link to a website where i could print a playing mat. Now, I didn't really know how it all worked, so I hit print. It was 64 sheets in total, and I was printing on a dot matrix printer. Good times. I remember trying to explain what I was doing. Didn't really go over well, but my dad was not about to stop that printer.
Also, I would use this site all the time for school. I wouldn't be surprised if elementary school kids still use this. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/Home.html
I forget. I remember playing a lot of computer games from the ages of two to...now, but I didn't get my own computer that I had private 'net access on until I was 9.
Dutch Zoo Tycoon forums. I got perma'd from them a few years ago though.
halo ce
My cousin used to play Age Of Empires a lot so I was already in to the PC, and then I saw him use these virtual Star Wars toys online and ever since I was 7 I've been hooked
Playing Neopets in 2004.
Shit, I completely forgot that website existed.
Shit, I completely forgot that website existed.
I remember watching drake and josh on turbo nick and that ad was basically the only one. aaaaahhh, being 12. Bliss.
My brother had used computer games to teach himself to read and write. My dad was an English Teacher and he also taught a computer class, so he saw the advantages of having one in the home. Needless to say computers have been an integral part of my life since my first one back in (if I remember correctly) 04. We used to play Runescape until my brother broke the monitor. Then my dad got us an eMachine. I tried running some actual games on it but it was kind of a turd. I did get Ground Control II working though, which was the only real computer game I owned. Finally my dad got himself a new, fancy-ass computer and gave my his old Compaq. That is when I really started to use the internet to its greatest potential: porn. The Compaq was a piece of junk by most standards because it was also from '04, (although the one I got in '04 was way older. 1998 I think) and ever since I learned what a gaming PC was, I wanted one. Particularly, I wanted a PC capable of running Spore (fuck if I know why I was young and stupid) and requested one to the exact requirements of that game (which were pretty low, meaning my next PC sucked balls as well). It was a laptop and it also sucked, but it got the job done. I could play Spore and Garrysmod, but most games ran at slideshow levels. So of course I started playing Garrysmod. One thing lead to another and I came here. I think I was 11 or 12 at that point. At 12 years old I started saving Christmas money until I had enough (enough being $750) to buy myself a gaming PC. I got a DiY kit and got any other parts that it needed and it ran great. I was happy to finally have a good computer. But of course my brother, who spends his money away first chance he gets on useless shit, had to share in the conquest that I alone achieved, and half of the time I could have spent on that thing was his, despite him not putting in any effort to get it. If he wanted a gaming PC so badly, he should have bought his own. So finally I picked him out one on Newegg for Christmas. Everything in it was good but the video card. Lucky for him, I was upgrading from a Radeon 6870 to a 7950. Unfortunately, his power supply couldn't run the 6870 and for a year now he has been trying to get one, but the aforementioned overspending has left him with no money and the 6870 continues to become outdated with each passing month. I told him to get a better PSU and GPU for Christmas instead of using my old shit, but he wanted a bunch of other stuff instead (apparently a drum kit which was damn near 300 bucks alone). So that is how I became the glorious poster and community contributor [sp]read:lies[/sp] I am today.
