The only thing that really bugs me is when people go out of their way to shorten already short words.
Like typing "you" as "u". Is the two extra characters really that goddamn hard to type? They're within a fingers-reach on the same hand.
I say 'u' and the likes over text with my mates just because it's casual and kinda funny I guess. I don't use it in serious conversations though
I value grammar over spelling unless the spelling is so bad you cant tell what they were trying to type.
I value all of these things as long as they produce a fairly sophisticated and well-thought out sentence/response that is easy to work with and reply to.
Grammar, spelling, punctuation and word choice are all important since they change the tone of what you're saying, even if the literal meaning is the same.
People who use more than three periods in an ellipsis.....
i type here pmuch exactly how i type to other people except when instant messaging i don't correct my spelling at all or really use much punctuation beyond for impact
from the top of my head I think it literally boils down to whether they're being a dick or not, I couldn't care about the rest
I'm a non-native English speaker, so even after some years I still have difficulty in pronunciation and grammar. I don't care if someone uses the improper tense of "your" but if you're typing "u kno wana gt fukd up hahaaaaa we rolln up xD" then I have a bit of a problem.
At the same time, if you're being an elitist or using a thesaurus to sound intellectually superior, I think you're an asshole.
I don't really see a "right" and "wrong" way to type shit, it almost completely depends where and who you're posting it at/for, some places you'll look stupid or unprofessional for using slang, lack of punctuation and shortened words, other places you'll stick out like a sore thumb or spend too long typing if you're typing like it's a business email.
I really don't give a shit as long as I understand the point being made. I've only talked to 2 people on FB who I legitimately had no idea what the fuck they were trying to say. Constant... ellipses... do... piss me off though....

D:
[sp]but seriously idk what the kirby emote is :s[/sp]
I hate when someone writes with correct spelling and grammar, but their choice of words make no sense in context.
Grammar and spellling errors bug me a little, but my biggest pet peeve is when people misuse a common phrase based on their verbal pronunciation of it.
"Should of" instead of "Should've" is a prime example, I've seen lots of others on FP but I can't recall them right now.
Over use of ellipsis.
This Fucking Shit Gets Me So Pissed.
>///////< and other weird ass emotes.
Green texting, TFW, MFW, obnoxiously calling everyone a Noob (Wot's Siemas are guilty the most of this)
Oh and "I could care less"

I care about all of these things on facepunch, but not anywhere else.
I care about all of these things on facepunch, but not anywhere else.
Really, it depends on the conversation. If I'm arguing a somewhat serious topic, I don't want to seem like a drooling retard, and thus I change the way I write.
If I'm chatting with a friend about how hot a certain chick is or something, I don't care at all. At the very least I'll use correct spelling, grammar and sometimes punctuation - using caps after a full stop can go fuck itself in IM, though.
It's so cringeworthy when I see people on facebook becoming hardcore grammar nazis and correct chicks who say "your" instead of "you're". Fuck, no one cares. It's not like they wouldn't understand how to write english, it's that no one cares to use correct grammar and punctuation on Fb because it's not important.
My style is weird. I barely use punctuation in instant messages, while on facebook posts I will use some punctuation (although I won't end a sentence with a full-stop) but I won't capitalise proper nouns. Then on Facepunch I'll attempt to use proper grammar and punctuation but I won't capitalise all my proper nouns.
I just realized that I sometimes get really bothered by it when people randomly use the word 'chick'.
But mostly, nothing bothers me. I fluctuate between all kinds of typing styles myself, from excessive smiley usage with shitty disorganized punctuation and capitalization, proper typing like I try to do here on Facepunch, and all lower case but mostly proper writing in chats. I think I just don't give a shit when it's instant messaging but I care a little more on forums.
