feral cats and wild cats don't trill. it's a house cat thing. it's supposed to get a human's attention because it sounds a bit like a baby. it usually means the cat likes you and is saying "hello" or "i love you" or "hey how are you would you happen to know where the treats are thanks!"
Whenever we let our cat out, to get back in he comes to my window and hooks a claw into the screen and makes a snapping sound with it. Like, he pulls it back until the tension causes the screen to release. And he'll do it over and over until I let him in through the main doors.
