How long are you dj'ing?Did you used mixers at first like a virtual dj?
"DJ" infront your name is such a pussy magnet :eng101:
Being a DJ is suprisingly easy. The hard part is to have an unique sound and to stand out from the masses of generic "Mr. Saxobeat" DJs out there.
How do you pick up the skills? Listen to the music and practice your skills. Dont reject other styles. Instead, learn from them. Dubstep, euro dance, vocal trance, Paris house, alternative, Classical, Rock, Folk, tango, Latin music you name it. The key is to find your style and sound. Create a social network with people who are willing to support you and advice you. You need others in order to succeed. Also being able to play any instrument is always useful (preferably keyboard.)

What do you need to start out as a DJ? I always had this interest for experimental Hip hop and scratchin, maybe that's not your kind.
