When I get a decent sports car like an older BMW or maybe a cute little Miata, I'm going to tastefully mod it. Nothing dumb like decals or body kits, just simple things that make it look nicer. I'm thinking black rims and a very minor lowering and that's it. Enough to give it a sportier appearance without going full riceburner.

Miatas are the way to go when it comes to cheap sports cars. There's so many of them that you can probably find a good one for a very good price. It's also very easy to make a Miata look good as well.
BMWs are harder to find but all they take to look good is a nice set of wheels, and maybe the correct paint job.
