maybe not your part of florida
i live in the bay area but i haven't seen a hipster
see! you can't stereotype places you've never been too! I hate when people say florida only has old people and alligators. Thats not true at all. Florida has some of the most stuck up rich college kids, canadians, romanians, russians, brazilians, ravers, a lot of slutty plastic people, amazing weird art people, A SHIT TON OF GAYS! GAYS SO FAR THE EYE CAN SEE (ESP IN KEY WEST) There is a carnival they have there and its so crazy.... you can be literally naked in the streets and not get arrested, A SHIT TON OF nerds that go to comic book conventions (me)... old people and alligators are few and far between where i live. maybe if you go to the VERY northern part of florida where it touches georgia?????

All the hipsters left SF and went to weird parts of Oakland or just went down to Silverlake.

California is literally the only state I could see myself living in.
I saw a bunch of hipsters in budapest
i think you can still find them in the mission district
Yea but its expensive as shit. My friend shares a studio apartment with 2 other people and she can still barely afford it.
it's actually really nice but yeah don't ever live there, it is a nice place to visit though. hard to find parking, and hard to find housing.
the bay area is currently experiencing a really bad influx of people and as a result it is being gentrified and housing is getting crazy expensive. the less people we have moving in here the better so that our housing market can adjust properly and let prices go down.
not to mention traffic SUUCKS
That is whats happening here too.. its making me so fucking upset because I've been trying to save up for an apartment for 2 years now and now that these fucking tourists are setting up camp here, they've bulldozed historic places and are building condos and resorts in my city and its like wtf man?? this was a peaceful family oriented town and now you asshats are trying to make this the new miami??? Fuck you.
They even closed down a homeless shelter so now the homeless people are just roaming around town and i feel like our crime rate is going to go up. its absolute bullshit

The only palm trees I've seen out here were made of metal, and it's way too hot to even go outside and get a tan compared to SoCal.
im dying of doing the laughter you guys

it makes me really sad how the possibility of my kids either growing up outside of the bay or in a completely different bay area than what i grew up in. there are a LOT of tech people in my area. the house next door to mine went on sale and was bought up in like 3 days by some tech dude. i love the culture of the bay area but i'm scared that it'll go away as more and more people move in.
this town used to be small and affordable but it's quickly getting crazy expensive.
it's happening all over the country which is really worrying

there are some houses in this area owned by dudes that don't even live in the US???

wtf???? did they gentrify oakland too???? i think i read somewhere that they did what the fuck man
The only palm trees I've seen out here were made of metal, and it's way too hot to even go outside and get a tan compared to SoCal.
Fun fact: All the palm trees in California were actually imported to here. It does not rain nearly enough for them to be sustainable and now all the iconic ones in Beverly Hills are dying. They planted new ones but they are not nearly high enough to replace the classic images of the place.
wtf???? did they gentrify oakland too???? i think i read somewhere that they did what the fuck man
no not really oakland is still sort of shitty
it's happening all over the country which is really worrying
Not really but just artists move into bad neighborhoods because they are cheap, then the hipsters follow the artists and it becomes not as cheap, then the faux-hipsters come in and totally kick out all the lower class people and it becomes expensive, and then the artists leave and normal people come in.
happy birthday me
Before another 8 pages come out of this thread, I'm going to say that I really need a haircut and to shape up my facial hair. That's it.

The apartments and studios here are really shitty. But they make them super expensive just because we live near the beach. I live in walking distance and biking distance of the beach, so the closer you are to the water, the more pricey which i think isn't even fair because the apartments aren't worth the prices. Let me see if i can show you something...
damn you guys slowed down

my cousin lives in an apartment the size of my living room but he pays out of the ass for it. it's just him and his girlfriend and it's not even that big of a city either. same goes for SF too, places close to the beach are expensive as fuck
