Nope. You start out with a basic arsenal, and you can buy other weapons with VP, which is earned during gameplay, and by completing missions. Only the Dapper/Stylish weapons are bought with Battlefunds, and those guns are just fancy reskins of the basic gun. Battlefunds are the currency you buy with real money, and they're used to buy things that look good, but don't directly improve your capabilities, such as fancy clothes, and special widgets that increase your VP and XP earnings. Everything that improves you, alternate weapons, widgets that heal you and repair vehicles, all of those things are bought by "free" money earned with the sweat of your Hero's brow. Basic "free" accessories can be bought with VP, too, such as a fetching helmet I bought for my Gunner. You gotta use Battlefunds to buy most things that change your look, and they can also be used to permanently buy a weapon, so you don't have to keep buying it over and over.

All Royals. My Gunner's called WalkingTurret, my Soldier's called CritAwkets (inspired by the Soldier from NerfNow), and my Commando's called TheDapperChap, although I can't get a grip on the Commando class. Too weak, and I can't do their stealthy kinda playstyle. The fact that the Rifle aim wavers doesn't help, either.
Maybe I should invest fully in Cloak before I do anything else with him? I heard that Troop Trap's a pretty good ability.

I'd have to say the Battlefield series, although it's in a third-person perspective. Look at the trailers and gameplay videos on YT for more info. The prescence of abilities might also liken it to that game COD4.
