• safe to leave laptop on all night?

Well, if your going to download overnight, take a pack of frozen peas or something, make sure there's no excess ice on the outside, and put it on your laptops keyboard. This should keep it nice and cool for a long time with relatively no problems. Also, it will absorb the radiation which won't affect you. Not to mention the peas will still be edible. I used to do this all the time. Since the peas are not growing anymore, cancer cannot form in the peas, and you'll be cancer free. Enjoy your new mod.

They are a portable computer, not a full out desktop. And anyways, all those devices you listed do in fact emit radiation, except maybe the TV remote, since that uses IR lights instead of wireless. Just put some damn peas on your laptop and go to bed.

One beer does more damage to your body then a lifetime of sitting next to a computer. Wikipedia it.
One beer does more damage to your body then a lifetime of sitting next to a computer. Wikipedia it.
Yeah, did John from New York say that? You're saying that not moving for your entire lifetime does less damage to your body than a single beer? "Well like I said, my laptop isnt running on wireless, its disabled. I got it threw a ethernet cored." Its "through". Also, wireless isn't the only source of radiation coming from your computer. I told you what to do, I guaranteed your safety, can you please just go to bed?
(because of some people who wanted more information and trolled about it, heres what i mean: Is it safe to leave my laptop on all night while i download something? Will it overheat, will it's hardware inside melt or get damaged, ect.)
You're not rendering Avatar, you're downloading something. Downloading something is not that system intensive, you'll be fine. On a related note, I have used my laptop to re-encode videos overnight and it was alright, as long as the side vent was clear of any obstructions it will be fine.
You're going to have shoulder cancer.
You're going to have shoulder cancer.
I'm starting to think people who don't read already have brain cancer.
I'm starting to think people who don't read already have brain cancer.
Well, you'll have brain cancer as well if you keep up your idiocy. Peas. Laptop. Bed.
Windows Button + R Type in: Shutdown -s -t 12000 Press Enter.
I'm starting to think people who don't read already have brain cancer.
I had brain cancer, I died twice.
Well, you'll have brain cancer as well if you keep up your idiocy. Peas. Laptop. Bed.
Well its not even night yet. Part one is finising and part 2 isnt even started yet.
Well its not even night yet. The speeds weren't that great because of congestion. The first night I could smell a little bit of burnt plastic. My laptop doesn't get hot usually, but I decided to never take the chance again. I put peas on my laptop every night it stays on. Never had a problem since.
I had brain cancer, I died twice.
That's understandable lol. [editline]07:41AM[/editline] Hey moderator, can you please lock this topic if you are looking. I've got my answers that i needed. [editline]07:42AM[/editline] I got nothing useful to use in my freezer.
Yeah, did John from New York say that? You're saying that not moving for your entire lifetime does less damage to your body than a single beer?
Did'nt say you would not be moving. Was expressing as in if you were a heavy gamer, ect

anyways if 2012 or a nuclear war actually happens then i would die from cancer before all that or if not ill gain more cancer from radiation sickness or get killed in 2012. What you should really be worried about is more the fact that the LCD screen emits a small ammount of a deadly type of radiation, not enough of it the harm you of course. You'll be fine if you sit atleast 3 inches away from the screen.
No it is not dumbass. [editline]11:55PM[/editline] Oh, that explains a lot. We don't like kids here.
We don't like trolls and flamers here also and I am practically not a kid, i'M a teenager.
I'm starting to think people who don't read already have brain cancer.
Hey fuck you pal I actually have brain cancer. I'm not joking either.
Hey fuck you pal I actually have brain cancer.
Then go get it treated quick buddy. I wasn't the one to actually start thing cancer thing so don't get pissed at me.
What you could do, if the download can be resumed, and assuming you are using a PC or running Windows. You could leave it on for, say, 200 minutes, and have it auto shut-down. Just type in run: Shutdown -s -t 12000 It will shutoff your computer in 200 minutes (3 hours). I do this all the time.
200 minutes is 3 hours and 20 minutes, not 3 hours.
We don't like trolls and flamers here also and I am practically not a kid, i'M a teenager.
You practically aren't? Practically can mean "almost" or "nearly". Looks like you are a kid. i'M?
You practically aren't? Practically can mean "almost" or "nearly". Looks like you are a kid. i'M?
What? I am 15. So what if i am a "KID". Also why did you just spam a post on a topic that was a question. I already found my answer about 3 or 4 days ago.
