• Thoughts on Virtual Reality?

I view it as somewhat of a gimmick though also an extension of the display. I'm not very interested in using it with motion controls like the vive but I would like to try it in a flight sim or anything in a drivers seat pov. It'd be cool for live events or movies. [sp]In all honesty I'd try VR porn then see my thoughts after.[/sp]
When VR gloves is here and there is no cords attached THEN come back and do a real survey
Imho VR just isn't there yet. It's already going in the right direction, but it still needs a bit more in order for me to become interested.

The proper VR tech needs to come down in price (Which will happen over time), and the current games seem more like tech demos. So far playing a port of Quake on my $15 Cardboard viewer has been the most impressive thing I've tried.
op where is I will wait till price goes down or is that what the middle one is for É
I want to get VR but I am most likely going to wait for the 2nd gen VR stuff before I buy into it.
I might get a vive when the price drops a bit, at least by $200 or so. fuck the rift tbh. I'm pretty excited about it but I don't think it'll be some godsend that revolutionizes gaming, because many gametypes just don't work (many fps) or are pointless with it. But it'll be neat. In the meantime I'm just going to get better monitors, and a Wii U
I'm still waiting for fucking holodecks and shit, VR headsets can suck it. :class: Joking aside, I do feel as though this current generation of VR technology just isn't something I want to invest in, later down the line perhaps? But there are plenty of things that I think could happen, such as the fact it has to survive this first generation and actually grow as a sector, or that it might get overtaken by a new technology developed later on. Plus the ones you buy now are going to be completely outpaced by later models, so it's really only a "looky what I got" thing for people with lots of money to use with some pretty gimmicky games, so currently no, I'd rather not pick one up, not until the consumer model actually comes down to a level in which the average consumer can afford one also USE one because you need a pretty good PC to get things running and it actually have some freaking games to boot.
Where's the :incredible: option? No, but really, I played with the Vive for about twenty minutes and immediately dropped $900 to buy one. I've got maybe 10 hours of playtime on it and it genuinely is an incredible experience.

The vive experience is what people thought those 90s gimmick peripherals were going to be like when they brought them home, except you actually get what you're expecting. You don't see one picture on the box and get something much worse in reality. For all of you saying it's a waste of money, have you seen what VR headsets go for on ebay? These things make money second hand.
