Brits have Coldplay.
US invented Jazz (said earlier) UK has a far deeper history in music because it has been around longer US has John Philip Sousa, some crazy ass marches
All Americans think us British have bad teeth, we don't. We just don't use fuck tons of whitening kits over and over.
º UK had Charles Darwin
Comes from my hometown and where I'm living now :smug:
Oh, I've thought of another one. The age of consent in the UK is 16, as opposed to America, where it is 18. Alcohol can be bought at the age of 18 in the UK, as opposed to America, where the age limit for buying alcohol is 21 in almost all (if not all) states. Which is why as an 18 year old, I have a fridge full of booze. Nice!
the UK only has 1 timezone
And all the other timezones in the world are based off it (Atleast, when we aren't using BST)
º US invented the Digital Computer
But someone from the UK invented the first (mechanical) programmable computer, the Americans just improved on a good idea.
Goalkeeping.

The United States has Jesus.
UK: Day, month, year. US: Month, day, year.
I know that in the US, no one spells is colour, cheque, centre, theatre, neighbourhood, and stuff like that, but would a teacher count it wrong? also, I like the day, month, year thing better, I grew up with it in the UK and I still have to think about it cuz now Im in the US and it goes month, day, year, which makes no sense [editline]10:59AM[/editline] oh yeah, UK had cool bands like The Beatles of course, Queen, The Who, and others, but I have to say, I have found that british men are ugly bastards compared to american men, but the girls in the UK are hotter and there are less ugly girls there, but a lot of them smoke
I'm from plymouth, and i'm sick of people saying plymouth is shit :v: We are the penis of the world, the pilgrims are the sperm and that indian-land now known as america is the egg. :v: Worldwide sex ed.
Plymouth IS shit. :raise: Exeter. :c00l:
Americans have Chris Tucker
who?
Equally i know people who say bum instead of toke. Resulting in "lets get a bum on that fag" instead of "lets get a toke on that cig"
i know 'bumming' on a cigarette as when you leave the filter all soggy... "ugh, who bummed it?"
Example of this: Anyone over the age of 5 can drink alcohol leagly, they just cannot purchase it. A 15 year old may drink cider in a public house while accompanied by an adult when eating a meal. Ok that doesn't necessarily make the UK better or anything, its just a funny fact.
this isn't strictly true. some places (family pubs, mostly) will allow children a small beverage to accompany their meal, but it'll be beer or wine, not spirits or alcopops or anything like that - and always under the parents consent. and the point is that they are having it with a meal, not on its own.
Tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't the British equivalent of "flipping-off" the index and ring finger forwards, towards you?
sort of... i mean it's like the more "traditional" way of swearing at someone, but we 'flip-off' too.
Here are some differences. http://www.greyorgray.com/most-commonly-misspelled-words.html
Apprently i've misspelled "metre" all my life
The United States has Jesus.
Didn't Israel have Jesus?
Didn't Israel have Jesus?
And look at them now
º In UK beer is generally better. º UK has The Beatles º UK had J.R.R. Tolkien (for the ignorant, he's the bad-ass responsible for The Lord of the Rings) º UK has Sean Bean º UK had Alfred Hitchcock º UK (Timothy Berners-Lee) pretty much invented the World Wide Web º UK has David Bowie º UK has/had Queen º UK had Charles Darwin º UK had Isaac Newton º UK invented James Bond (Ian Fleming) º UK had Arthur Conan Doyle (author of Sherlock Holmes) º UK had William Shakespeare º UK has David Attenborough º UK has BBC (already mentioned, worth mentioning again)
All things I do not care about.
Here are some differences. http://www.greyorgray.com/most-commonly-misspelled-words.html
I've never seen anyone spell vice as 'vise'.
Oh, I've thought of another one. The age of consent in the UK is 16, as opposed to America, where it is 18.
The age of consent varies by state. [editline]04:40PM[/editline]
*image* [sp]I live in Pennsylvania please don't kill me[/sp]
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the best state.
UK has better slang. And they spell proper English without taking letters out of words.
Have a box for stereotyping.
Our influences to music scalewise are bigger than the us :smug:
That's debatable. Not to say the Rolling Stones weren't awesome. Because they were.
UK has free dental care, motherfuckers
I guess you get what you pay for. [joking] [editline]12:53AM[/editline]
US invented Jazz (said earlier) UK has a far deeper history in music because it has been around longer US has John Philip Sousa, some crazy ass marches
Without jazz there would be no rock. Therefore no beatles, creedence, rollingstones. So USA is by far more critically influential than britain [editline]12:54AM[/editline]
:smug:
[editline]01:16AM[/editline]
In the UK rugby is played by massive men who love to kick the shit (and teeth) out of other men. In the US rugby is called "football" and is played by pussies who need to wear padding all over.
Admit you never played football or shut up. Call them a pussy to their face see how fast you lose your teeth
I know that in the US, no one spells is colour, cheque, centre, theatre, neighbourhood, and stuff like that, but would a teacher count it wrong? also, I like the day, month, year thing better, I grew up with it in the UK and I still have to think about it cuz now Im in the US and it goes month, day, year, which makes no sense
Some teachers do, some don't. My English teacher this year didn't care, but my teacher last year got pissed off at me for some reason because I spelled it "wrong".
To all you people implying that Americans actually have good teeth, you are wrong. Most of us have had extensive dentistry done to correct faults and almost every adolescent has had braces, but a lot of us have god awful teeth. Honestly. It's far more widespread than any stereotype can possibly condense.
Admit you never played football or shut up. Call them a pussy to their face see how fast you lose your teeth
u mad? And yeah, I have played football, I've also played rugby it's a lot more intense. And beating someone up is really a productive way of winning an arguement.
u mad? And yeah, I have played football, I've also played rugby it's a lot more intense. And beating someone up is really a productive way of winning an arguement.
It is when you call 300 pounds of muscle a pussy. And please don't compare your outtings to actual [del]dedicated[/del] players
u mad? And yeah, I have played football, I've also played rugby it's a lot more intense. And beating someone up is really a productive way of winning an arguement.
That's another difference between the UK and US. In the UK we have reasoned debates and discussions when there are disagreements. In the US they just punch the other person. Or so the internet tells me.
