I forgot to mention the best part with its squad members and their personalities. Their personalities actually have a gameplay effect
Some characters have allergies and phobias, some are intolerant of other races and won't work well with allies of those races, some don't like nature, some don't like people period, all kinds of things like that. You often have to plan your strategies around them to maximize effectiveness cuz it can drastically alter their performance if you aren't paying attention.

To be fair, the game is fully dubbed in english and for the most part doesn't really do anything to make it feel anime besides having an animeish art style
